I just got ToB yesterday (I've been playing SoA for years. I don't know why I didn't get the expansion.) I was just wondering if there's any patches, mods, tweaks, fixes, etc. that I absolutely NEED to get.

Also, I've got Freedom's Reign. Do I need to delete FR and install Reign of Virtue?

And... is the SP fixpack incompatible with ToB? Do I need to uninstall it before I install ToB?

Some of the descriptions are a little vague.

You need BGII-ThroneofBhaal_Patch_26498_ENGLISH.exe from Bioware and optionally BG2ThroneOfBhaalFixPack112.exe from Baldurdash.

Careful of the mods and stuff, they just DONT work and screw things up BIG TIME, so if its your first time playing tob I would install first what Chris told you but maybe reinstall BG2 after deleting your override folder then install tob if you had lots of mods previously installed.

I would recommend all the WeiDu mods out there. They are all compatibke with each other too. The Ascension sounds really cool and I have always wanted to play it. The ascension mod contains features that always were going to be part of ToB but never made it in the development.

:) They are NOT all compatible with each other at all, I installed JUST weidu mods and they screwed up the game completely and they were installed in the right order with nothing else.

[IMG] Don't apply the SP fixpack if you have ToB installed. It was made for a SoA installation without ToB.

    Cool, thanks guys.

As of right now I've got...
    a)Solaufein
    b)Item Upgrade
... that are both supposed to be compatible with ToB.

I'm playing a 9/16 (currently) Berserker/Cleric with the Solaufien mod installed. Will I need to uninstall Sola, install the bug fix/patches then re-install both mods? Or can I just install the patches and get on with it.

I'm only in Chapter 6, so I won't be installing it for a few days. I'm at the second encounter for Sola (the one with Archyssa) - it wouldn't be so hard if I actually had time to change my spells. Right now I have a bunch of spells that have no effect on them. And DAMN those Revenge Spiders!!!

[IMG] You'll really enjoy Throne of Bhaal - especially if you like chopping dragons into little bits!

You can kill four of them!

    @Blackhawk: There's 5 dragons in ToB.

@Mystra's Chosen, I think I'd reinstall the mods after ToB and patch, that's easy since both are WeiDU mods.

[IMG] Whoops! I forgot to count that rather wussy dragon in the last level of Watcher's Keep.

I guess I just didn't think about him - since it dies in about 2 rounds.

Correct, it all depends on the coding. While WeiDU mods will work with each other, you need to read the readme on mod order (For instance, Weimer's stuff should generally be installed before any other WeiDU mods).

Could I install the official patch and the Baldurdash fixpack together? If not, which one is better, meaning which one concentrates on serious bugs that make the game crash and/or unbearable?

You can absolutely install both the official patch and the fixpack. I'd do the patch first followed by the fixpack. Note that the fixpack is slightly double edged as it closes loopholes as well as fixing bugs.

You can obtain the official patch here.
    Get the Baldurdash fixpack here.

Good luck on your games. ;)
As for MODS and patches, I would've suggested that you just install patches and install the MODS after you've got through ToB.
    Your choice really, though.

The only ones I'm keeping are the two Weimer mods. I wasn't planning on getting ToB but I ran into "the Collection" in the store, so I picked it up for 30 canadian dollars. I had already started a character and was in chapter 5 or 6 when I bought it and I'd already got the Solaufein mod installed and in my party, so I didn't want to change party balance and all that.

BTW, is it worth it to run all the way through SoA every time you want to play ToB? It says you get some items and XP, but how do you get NPC's, Bhaal test stats and such?

The only thing good about going through SoA again before ToB is just because of the items you lose if you start fresh in ToB. As far as XP goes, i finished SoA level 19-20, while ToB starts you out at 18 or so, i'm not quite sure.If you do start a new game in ToB, you get a bag of holding taht contains some neat items.

Its worth playing through SoA to ToB!

I recommend importing a game from SoA so you can keep any romance you are working on and keep all the powerful items.

If you want to start a completely new game, starting at SoA, then you can be far more powerful at the end of SoA than you could have ever been before the expansion.

    Kangaxx gets slaughtered!

    I'm currently running through Saradush with a 9/21 Berserker/Cleric.

I've also got a Skald in SoA and I'm going to start an Avenger or some other Druid class pretty soon.

I'm probably going to always play though SoA first then because there's just too many wicked items just to lose them all in ToB.

BTW, what's up with that first Bhaalspawn. The game tells you 2 or three times that you better get ready for battle because something big is about to go down, but then this wussy mage/thief comes out with her three buds and the fight's over in less than a round! *shakes head*.
