Okay, I've been wondering a long time about the exp one receives after killing a Greater Basilisk. I see everyone on the boards say they receive 7,000 per kill. I'm confused by that because when I kill one I only get 4,000. Is it because of a certain patch I have? By the way, the version of Baldur's Gate I have is the Original Saga.

I don't have The Original Saga, but I do remember getting 7,000 EXP for killing one. I also remember getting 4,000. IIRC, it depends on the Basilisk- some are 4,000 and some are 7,000.

I think the 7k XP one is one of Muitum's (gnome with thos pretty statues east of Beregost temple) pets.

Yeah strange. I think I "only" got 4k from the ones in Durlag's Tower.

You're both right - it depends on which greater bassilisks you're talking about. The ones in DT are only worth 4,000 XP. However, I'm not sure if the difference is only between the expansion and the regular game. For example, I don't know if the two in the catacombs are worth 4k or 7k, and I don't know if the one on the docks in BG is either.

All greater basilisks are worth 4K, with two exceptions: BASILMUT, Mutamin's basilisk, and BASILNAD, the basilisk that Nadarin has you kill in the warehouse in Baldur's Gate.

Indeed, the marilith is right. It's not so much a matter of knowing everything as being able to find out just about anything.
