NWVault has conducted a Hall of Fame interview with Carlo, who is the author of the module entitled DMFI 101: So You Want To Be A DM and the head of the DM-Friendly Initiative (DMFI). Here's an excerpt:

    3. Was your intention of your module to help others?
DMFI 101 was inspired by the DM 101 course that used to be run by the Fleet Street DMs as an in-game seminar at Neverwinter Connections. After the demise of that seminar, there was nothing available community-wide for organized DM training. Personally, I think “live” seminars are the ideal way to learn because of the interactivity, but regularly running such a seminar requires a large amount of time and organizational effort. We believed that the core DM and DMFI wand functions could be taught effectively via a scripted module and in that way could reach a much larger audience. The ultimate goal of creating the module was to give interested people the best possible introduction to DMing, thereby growing the number of trained DMs in the community.
