[IMG] I was just wondering if there were any ways or 'cures' to hangovers or just speed up the process of getting rid of them ... :borg: :rolling: :borg:

I found that sleeping it over is the best solution of them all. When you can sleep, that is. I've never had any problems with that part though. :xx:

Lots of water before bed and some Gatorade first thing in the morning works every time. Staying away from coffee is also a good thing as it dehydrates you further.

[IMG] Eat a load of dry bread and drink lots of water before you go to bed and take some Alka-Seltzer in the morning if necessary. Then reflect on the less than salubrious events of the night before. I did that!? Nooooooooooooooo!! :hahaerr:

You need salt, sugar, fluid and protein. Tomato juice will address the first three- drink as much of it as you can bear. Then persuade someone to cook you a proper British breakfast. You will think you couldn't possibly eat it, but trust me- you can, and you'll feel 100% better afterwards.

You need water. Lots of water.

The quickest way is to drink distilled water. It helps purge your body of the formaldahydes, but it shoots your electrolytes to hell in the process. So after you start feeling a little better (maybe close to 1.5 litre), drink some gatorade or eat a bananna and something 'salty' to get your sodium and potassium back where they should be.

The solution to pollution is dilution?

Well, if you have a hangover just take a drink, you'll feel better... for a while that is and then it just get's worse. Sleep is also a good option (like Tal said) and if you can't sleep (try to) concentrate on something to clear your mind and then try to sleep. Another option if you can't sleep is hot milk with honey (mmm, delicious).

The best way to not get a hangover is DON'T DRINK TO MUCH!!! But that must be difficult since you're an English-man.

[IMG] Gingerale and cranberry juice. The cranberry juice is good for the liver, the gingerale puts electrolites back (good for fevers too).

    Always helps me :)

Note this only works if you got tanked on beer and drink another beer in the morning. I would not recommend this with, say, tequila.

[IMG] Someone beat me to it above...But, I'll give an enthusiastic thumbs up for Gatorade!!! Drink a bottle before bed you'll feel fantastic in the morning! Unless, of course, you roll over and instantly regret your choices from the previous evening! :spin:

    Bah!

    I'm dealing with amateurs here.

The best way to deal with a hangover is to give yourself an IV of saline right before you go to bed.

    Presto chango. :1eye:

I nurse a hangover about two Sunday mornings a month (today included), and this is what I've gleaned from a few years of experimentation. Plus, I just read a whole bunch of articles about hangovers around 2 weeks ago, and this info is pretty much the running theme through all of them.

Besides water, water, and more water, the tomato juice and or Gatorade is the way to go, as well as something mega starchy. I like to go to the local pancake place and get a plate of buckwheat pancakes. It's like superwheat. It'll startle anything out of your system. Bacon or other salty breakfast meat can't hurt either. Yeah it'll look yucky, but it really works. Coffee is ok to take the grogginess out of the morning (afternoon?), but only along with the gallon or so of water you'll need to drink. Don't take Tylenol, there's a slim chance that they could react with the alcohol in your system and make your liver burst. Ibuprofen and Asprin will further irritate your stomach. If you have to take a pill, then let it be a multivitamin.

[IMG] Ahhh A toppic about drinking! :) I sent a hyperspace mail to Yoda and he gave me this piece of advice through the force.

First notice that you are suffering. hmhmryyr, yes! he said. That was all. But I see it like this; As we all know fear leads to anger, anger leads to hatred and hatred leads to suffering. You must not fear your hangovers but accept them. Then you will leave the path that leads to the dark side of drinking. You must learn to live in harmony with your hangovers or forever will they dominate your destiny. Search your feelings you know it is true.

[IMG] I know this sounds thick and crap etc. but what exactly does water do and does it affect vodka?

Water before bed is best, but if you drink like I do then your in no shape to remember that when the time comes. I usually drink a beer right away when I get up, then get a greasy breakfast sandwhich and throw some water or gatorade on top! It rehydrates your body because alcohol dehydrates you.
