Kind of a silly little thread to offset the heavy (Depression!) topics of late here ...

What makes you happy? Genuinely happy. It can be big picture happy or little thing happy or anywhere in between.

For me my favorite thing is probably waking up in the morning before I have to get up and realizing I don't have to get up yet (or at all on weekends!), and then going back to sleep. Sleeping is what I do best, so I can always fall back out with no trouble.

 

For me it'd have to be boating.

Either driving a fast power boat such as a RIB through coastal waters, or being a hand on board a traditional sailing vessel, feeling the wind in my hair and the salt spray on my face.

Put a grin on my face just thinking about it to write here.

 

Thank you. I needed this today.

Lots of things make me happy.

Dancing, writing -- particularly those moments in writing when the words just seem to flow. Listening to good music. Eating good food. Being surrounded by beauty. The smell of autumn trees.

Seeing/Discovering when someone else suddenly does something right for the first time (I'm in an adult tap class, and there's a move that everyone has been having trouble with. I got it fairly easily early on, because I had a lot of tap when I was younger. Anyway, today, everyone nailed it and it just made my day).

Having an "ah ha!" moment.

And yeah - sleeping in. Love that.

 

I love the open sea, and it is one of my lifetime ambitions to own my own little yacht. There's nothing better than going out with a crate of beer, a radio and a fishing rod and just relaxing on the open sea. It's absolutely awesome and you can truly find peace out there. I think it's in Englishmens blood, Britannia Rules The Waves and all that.

 

At the moment I'm smiling at one of my girls stalking around the livingroom like godzilla with her tail high in the air.

Now she's decided to turn around and run as fast as she can from one end of the room to the other.

Aside from the two girls, my snakes make me happy, especially when they're clean out of shed and their patterns are fresh and crisp so they're looking their best and are chilled out all over again (they can get a little antsy in shed)

Apart from that there's not much over Winter and will have to see what Summer brings

 

I'm happy when I get to take afternoon naps. Of course, I'm also sad that I'm at an age where I need afternoon naps, but still...

 

People posting forum topics like this makes me happy Gaear Its good to bring focus on good stuff once it a while Thank you.

I like that you throw in different perspectives on things Vorona.

I also like fishing and open waters and open spaces and unexpected beauty. Most important are my friends. They make me happy.

 

Spending time with the wifie and the kids makes my day go better. also beating a hard boss in a game makes life so much more fun.

 

Knowing how lucky I am to have my health, my family, and no major concerns in my life, compared to the issues that so many other people in the world have to deal with.

Also, I love going out for a run. I have managed to get out for a run every single day this year, so I am up to 68 days in a row now. It's my peaceful part of the day.

 

As soon as I step on a hockey pitch most troubles are gone.

 

Writing. Or more specifically, people reading my writing. I love the knowledge that my words have wrapped someone else up in their own world, one that I built the skeleton of but their own imaginations turned from a skeleton into a living, breathing land where anything they dream is possible.

 

Making people laugh or smile, I guess.

As for hobbies etc, I'm not too sure. I like writing as well, but I don't do it that often anymore. Some people urge me to write a book with short stories, but for some reason I don't feel like it now.
Frequently, people call me up, asking them to help me out with some grammar or getting a message on paper properly. In Dutch, of course.
I have a knack for language and etymology, I guess.

 

Listening to music and hearing new details makes me happy. Going for a ride on (one of) my bike(s) and biking till the world goes away makes me happy. Ditto for swimming and running, but best with biking. A nice warm day with the fresh smell of nature. A nice cold day with the air freezing in my nostrils. Hugging my girlfriend.

Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs

Nothing can ever make me as happy as christmas eve with my family.

The smell of turkey in the oven as we settle down to watch christmas films open our christmas eve present, and once its done, making turkey sandwiches, christmas eve is better than christmas day

 

If the nun looks like a young Julie Andrews....

 

So far, no one is happy when toiling away in a cubicle in a stale room with dozens of frustrated co-workers for 40-80 hours a week? How odd.

 

I was euphoric when I got to work in a small cubical after being unemployed for six months....
