[IMG] okay, I heard about these subplot quests, and I heard you needed Khalid and Jahiera(how DO you spell her name? ::sighs:: ) for the harper one and Xzar and whats-his-name for the zhentarim one. my question is how do you get these quests? and assuming you do get them, how do you do them?

I played the game with Khalid and Jaheira and I didn't get a harper's quest. TRhe only thing I know is that in the southern part of BG you meet Entillis Fulsom who says to hurry up with doing the Scar and Elthan's quest. He tells some more when you have Jaheira in your party but doesn't give a quest.

There's no Harper subplot per se (afaik), besides the meeting with Elminster which happens somewhere in the middle of the city. He greets Jaheira and Khalid but that's about it I think.

Dunno about the Zhentarim plot, never had those two goons in BG.

There is not much of a Zhentarim plot, it's just that those wizards in Sorcerous Sundries (or whatever that place is called) happen to be Zhentarim. They explain that Xzar and Monty are their agents, and that Xzar's madness is needed for the job, and that's about it. Nothing much, really.

Indeed, when your have Xzar in your party the mages on the second floor of Sorcerous Sundries will not attack you.

Tal, you are wrong. You meet Elminster in the East of BG only. In the south (gate between central and southern map) yo'll meet another friend of the harpers, Entillis Fulsom and not Elminster.

[IMG] Oh is that it? I musta heard wrong, bec I thought that having either in your party would get you another quest, aside from those mages. Odd, how Edwin recieves the same "quest" with another set of wizard, no?

    What do you exactly mean?

Xzar is a member of the Zentarim, and the mages that else fight you will recognize Xzar as one of their members and so not fight your party for else they would fight their own member. Edwin is not part of this group so he and the whole party will be attacked by the mage.

Thats why i said "another set" :) It's in the far central eastern area in the map. the one with a stone altar/ruin? It's filled with spider kin i believe. Anyhoo, they are red mages that ask whether Edwin has "finished his mission" and then leave. otherwise they attack, thats what i meant by similar

That's what I tried to explain. There are some groups in the game. Jaheira is a member of the Harpers. The guy at the gate in Baldurs Gate South recogniezes her and tells her info about the Harpers. Another group are the Zhentharim. They won't attack you when you have Xzar in your party for they recognize him as a member of the Zhentharim. The third time this happens in the game is with the Red Wizards in the Wood of Sharp Teeth. I'm not sure if this happens more in the game bit these are the three examples I know. These are no quests but it has influence on what happens, an attack or not...
