I just did the quest for Xzar, but no harper showed up to talk to Jaheira. I searched the forum, and found that you have to sleep outside the city in order for the harper to spawn. I went for D'Arnise, though noone came. Went back to the city thinking "mayby she'll show up once I'm back outside the Harper Hold".. Nothing happened though. Anyone know how to spawn this strange lady, via CLUA or so?...

 

The Harper quest takes time - lots of it. I have the feeling there isn't anything else you need to do but wait. You did go back and talk to Xzar after finding Montaron, right?

 

Aye, I did. Xzar died, and that was it. Read a guide which said "when the assassin disappears, another woman will appear and talk to Jaheira". Noone showed up though, so I searched the forum, and found a thread which said something like "since you can't set up a camp in Athkatla, you need to go outside, like D'Arnise or Umar, and rest there. Then she'll appear.."

I'm confused. I'm not planning on keeping Jaheira, just want the nice stuff that comes with the quest, and there's quite a few intresting dialogues with her.

Since I ain't gonna keep her, does someone know how to spawn the harper? CLUA?

It depends on what point of the game you're at. IIRC, if I've waited till chapter 6 to do Xzar's quest, the "other woman" will spawn immediately after the assassin that killed Xzar's little speech. If I do it in chapter 2, it will be a while before she comes looking for Jaheira. I think your confusion is this: resting outside triggers the ambush by bandits, which won't happen until after Jaheira has gone off to talk with the Harpers. Just kill some time around Athkatla. Do some other quest, or go on a drinking spree in the Copper Coronet

Hmm. Now I'm confused. If by "nice stuff" you mean the Harper Pin, there is no point to getting it if you're not planning an keeping Jaheira, since only she can wear it. And getting it takes almost the entire game anyway - all the various pieces of the quest are based on game time, and it takes quite a while for each of the necessary encounters to happen.

 

How about the Ring of Wizardry? 'That do it for ya? Guess that's the one I really want. Don't feel like bringing along Jaheira - whine for the whole family! She'd be getting her share of the exp, only to find herself on the street when I've gotten my sweet ring.

EDIT: Oh, and BTW, I guess I can wear it when I get HLA (use any item). Didn't think about that earlier.

 

If I remember correctly, the Harper's Pin was the reward for completing Jaheira's Romance, but you aren't required to romance Jaheira to have her called to the Harper base and access that part of the quest.

Umm.. you could, but what would be the point? If you aren't at least part mage, it won't give you bonus spells, because you don't have a spell book, and thus can't scribe spells. Of course, if you ARE part mage (like a mage/thief for example) you can wear it right now, and don't have to wait for HLAs.

 

The part of me using use any item to wear it was just a thought that came to me, a small PS. Wasn't planning on using it.

Anyhow, I'm quite positive that Xzar's quest leads to the Ring of Wizardry.

 

The other woman, are you talking about Meronia? She's one of the Harpers in the building and also meets Jaheira to ask her to come with her. AFAIK, unless you're romancing Jaheira, Meronia will show up right away; ie: as soon as Xzar is dead.

I think her CLUA is CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("Meronia")

The RoW or Harper Pin? Depends on what class your PC is. A mage type gets more use from the ring. The Harper Pin can be worn by a thief or bard type with UAI and of a higher level that Jaheira. It does take forever to get the Pin.

 

Actually, IIRC De'arnise Keep isn't considered "outside" for the game's purposes. You'll have to go somewhere else like Windspear.

 

Actually, in just my last game that I had Jaheira, I was attacked by the bandits while resting outside of the D'Arnise Keep. So it IS considered outside. is there a time variable that has to expire for this even to take place?

 

I'm a fighter/thief, so I personally have no use for the ring nor the pin, though I got Edwin, so the ring is dearly wanted.

I'm in the very beginning, played a few hours, mainly getting everything in order. I doubt that I could beat them to get the ring right now, and Edwin wouldn't get anything out of it either, since he's only level 10.

Considering the harper-related quests usually takes a long time, I decided to dump her for now, and perhaps take up the quest later.

 

You dumped Jaheira? Then her romance is screwed. Badly. Some harper-quests are related to her romance, I think, so you may need to use CLUA console to re-activate her romance by force.

 

Nah, ain't going for the pin anyhow. I'll check back on her when I get back from the underdark or so, and test if the harper shows up. Doesn't really matter, the game's fun, not the ring Besides, I could never go on with the romance - she's really going on my nerves. Her whining is even worse than Aerie. A whining of sorts. Viconia on the other hand - now that's a woman

 

The only quest of Jaheira's that is romance related is the bandits. Everything else is just by having her in the party.

 

Yeah, you don't need to be romancing Jaheira to go through the Harper stuff. And you get the ring of wizardry as loot from one of Galvarey's cronies when you confront him in the Harper hold.
