Has anyone else had this problem?

I defeated the last mage in the cave with the animals(I forgot his name),and he teleported away,then I saw the movie about the ice tower in east haven,but after the movie,it said paused for movie at the bottom of my screen and I had no control over my pc's.I waited that way for a half hour the last time(it happened 3 times).Any suggestions,I'd like to finish the game after all I've gone through.

 

Yes, it's a common problem. Empty the Override directory, keep a copy, and restore it when you're properly in Easthaven.

First you have to start the Windows Explorer and locate the directory (folder) where you Icewind Dale files are located. It could be like "DGAMES\ICEWIND" or the default I think is "CProgram Files\Black Isle\
Icewind Dale". Make this folder active and in it you will see a list of subdirectories. Right-click on a white space somewhere in your folder and this should bring up a pop-up menu with the top line being "Create". Choose to create a new folder and name it smth like "Saved". Then make you "Override" subdirectory active. Using your mouse select all files and press "Ctrl+X". This should cut your files to the clipboard. Move back up to your Icewind Dale folder. Make active your new folder ("Saved") and press "Shift+Insert" which pastes the data from Clipboard. Reload the game, do the fight with the priest, then start the Explorer again and do the reverse: make active your "Saved" subfolder, select all files, cut them to Clipboard, make active the "Override" subfolder, paste the data. Relaod Icewind Dale and enjoy the last moments of it.

Btw I use the non-patched version and I have never encountered any problems with game lockup.

An easier way is to rename the Override directory to something like "XOverride". Reports are that this works, that the game doesn't care that the whole Override directory is missing. If you want to be more careful, you could also create a new empty directory with the right name.

 

Does the patch create this problem?
