The other day, while I was downloading some songs, my mom came in and said that the government was going to start cracking down on pppeople who download copywrighted music off the internet. She said that she heard it on the news, but I still don't belive it.

How are they going to it? They can't shut down the shareing networks...and I highly doubt that the cops are going to come to everyone's house who is a suspect. :rolling:

Yeah, could be. Are you on dial up ? It could be your mom's way of telling you not to spend too many hours online. :D

    Oh good lord, you three.

Read the news. Look for the acronyms "RIAA" and "MPAA". You will also see the words "subponea" and "lawsuit" used frequently.

The crackdown is on people who pirate *massive* amounts of software, music, vidoes, etc. for profit. There are literally hundreds of millions of people using p2p programs, and there's not a shadow of a chance that they're at all targeted in the crackdowns.

I heard somewhere about some person that downloaded 600 songs in one day. And they were trying to get personal information on him from his isp so they can track him down. Its pretty bad news they are going after the people that are downloading the music now. But there will always be ways around it.

They will never stop piracy, even if it means holding a microphone up to a speaker and recording.
