Have you noticed that you get an item AFTER you need it?

[IMG] Don't you get the Dragon-killing sword AFTER you kill the dragon? and don't you get the Mace of Disruption AFTER wading through room after room of undead hordes?

Wouldn't it have been better to reverse the placement of those items?

You get the Dragonslaying sword BEFORE you meet with firkraag. Its when you beat that group of adventurers in the upper level of the maze.

Yeah about Mace of Disruption you are correct. You have to wade through hordes of undead monsters before you get it.

Its like that with many of those kick-ass weapons people like to talk about. "I like my super-uber powerful kensai/mage dualwielding crom faeyr and celestial fury" -- that kind of stuff.
I dont mind Celestial fury as you can get it almost as soon as you exit the dungeon. But Crom Faeyr??? You can forge it together almost at the end of the game. What good does it do then? You must've already developed tacticts that allowed you to survuve so far and will work either having The hammer or not.

Exactly! Besides the fact that you ALREADY had those Ogre power gauntlets and that other cool stuff... and at that level YOU ARE ALREADY A BADASS with or without Crom Flayer... (purposely mis-named)

I noticed that in De'Arnise Keep: you get a powerful troll killing weapon in the Flail of Ages AFTER you've cleared out 99% of the trolls in the keep.

It seems like the game is rewarding you for your struggle against trolls, by giving you a weapon that will make trolls no longer a threatening enemy.

ATT. Blog: You can actually gather the pieces pretty quick, just go around all the unneeded obstacles, and grab the heads, and forge them together... There's a lot of incidents that can be avoided until you decide to handle them!

Regarding the location of the mace of disruption:

I thought the location was well thought out due to the fact that the undead would not want a weapon such as the mace of disruption used. The undead were hiding it where they thought it was well protected. I would figure that they are doing research to destroy such a weapon so that it is never used against them - which implies they are not currently able to destroy this weapon. This might be similar to the books you find after Bodhi has been destroyed forever. Bodhi did research on ways to reverse her condition, I believe, in an effort to ward against having her condition reversed since she was dead set against losing her condition.

Blog - there are quite a few trolls in the Druid Grove. Yeah, uh, that's a weak argument. But just pointing that out.
