Ok... So here I was, merrily playing Baldurs Gate Two: Shadows Of Amn, everything going perfectly alright and dandy, in the middle of a wonderful romp through the temple ruins of Umar, mid-mission, I decide it would be a good idea for my party of weary adventurers to take a bit of a nap.

So I hit the Q key as I do before every resting period. Then came the bastarding problem, everytime I rest, the game crashes, I restart the game and try again, no luck.

I restart my machine and try again, no luck.

Then I try Lokkens idea, saving in a new slot, closing the game, reopening, then trying to rest.

    It did not work.

My version of BG2 is running the most recent patch and I am currently running DX8.

My specs are Athlon XP 1900+, 512MB DDR RAM and a GF4 MX 460.

I believe this problem could either be stemming from resting or from ingame video playback, either way, much help would be happily accepted :) .

    Cheers

    -Stavros

That sorta sounds familiar... I had a problem once where every FMV crashes the game - including cut scenes like sunrise, sunset, asylum preview, etc... AND the sleeping screen.

For a temporary solution, I just madly clicked through it so the videos didn't actually load. You might want to try that too.

hmm... is there no way to disable video playback... that would probably be a better solution.
[edit: i went into baldur.ini and set all the FMV values to zero... it still crashes. also.... running Win2k Pro if anybody needs know]

I did the same thing as Blog. I would click "madly" until I would bypass the video. I had to do it with the asylum vid most of the time.

Do you have a Full Install? The BG2 CDs aren't really all that balanced, so that could be the problem.
