Finnaly IWD 2 was released close to where I live and there i was thinking it run totally without problems, but sadly i wont :( I dont have the all-to familiar lag, but my pathfinding behaves very strangely. Alot of times when I move my party it takes up to 10 seconds before they start moving, before that they just stand there doing nothing exept breathing (idle-moving, you know, small shaking as in all Infinity games) and then suddenly they start moving. I dont understand why, because im running this game on a decent computer (specified at the bottom) and no infinity game has ever given my these problems (ive played all of course) and i really wanna play the game :(

    Intell pentium 3, 1 GHz
    256 MB Ram
40 GB harddrive (8 GB left)
    nVIDIA Geforce 2

Btw, im running the game at 800x600, with 33 aiupdates/second (ive reduced this, didnt help) and 25000 pathfinding (lowered this from 40000, didnt help). Anyone got a solution?

This should only happen if you had the search nodes set up way up high, and on a much slower CPU.

Try this: in your Config program, set Frame Rate to 30, path search nodes to 32000, cache size to 200MB and in Graphics, Tile Pre-Cache to 100%. I'm running it with these settings on a Duron 750 smoothly as butter.

I used to think the cache was stupid.

But I realize they are uncompressing the files and moving them to the cache.

Set that cache as high as possible. This frees up your processor during level loads.

And yeah, those pathfinding nodes can change things around totally. I have a 1.4ghz tbird, with a 166FSB, and I never use above 40,000.

If the lag is still making you mad or frustrated at 32k, drop it down to 10k.

But you should really only be noticing it when there are a huge number of enemies on the screen. Like 15 or so. If it's just your 6 people, and 4 enemies, 32k shouldn't bog down a gigahertz.

Hardware (EAX) sound also pulls some major processing power. A lot more than people realize. Turning off EAX will give you a speed boost right off the top of everything.

Scandisk all your paritions. And make sure you defrag your hard disk, too. Go through your temp. folders and internet cache beforehand, and clean them out.

And since it's a Geforce2 (I'm guessing a GTS), use the detonator 30's or 28.72's. If you have the 40.72's loaded, you're taking a performance hit from the drivers; it's a hit on every single nvidia card, too. It's probably not all that important on this game, but every little bit helps.
