In the river caves there is a duergar called dragu trying to make a crossbow called the hell bolter. When i get my wizard to talk to him my wizard can figure out how it works and say its simple but no matter what he moves away from that crossbow and starts talking about the doom bolter which i can then help him make.

Yet i want the hell bolter i looked it up in the weapon lists on a site and its really cool is there any way that i can make him build it for me now or will he come back and build it for me?

 

You get one of them by helping and you get the other one by killing him and looting his body. Simple as that.

 

So if i kill him he has the hell bolter on his body?

 

The Hell Bolter is the HOF version of the Doom Bolter. If you replay it in HOF mode, he will give you the Hell bolter instead of the doom bolter.

 

I thought the HoF version of the doom bolter was in fact Dragu's Doom bolter as that made sense. Well then how do you get Dragu's Hell bolter and Dragu's Doom bolter(they are different from just the hell bolter and doom bolter the dragu's at the start makes them better)

 

By talking to him with somebody with high INT you help him finish his hell bolter. He won't give it to you though. The only way of ever getting the hell bolter is if you kill him. However, you get a smaller version, the doom bolter off him, for helping complete his design.

 

The Doom Bolter and Dragu's ditto is the ones you get for helping him build it in respectively Normal and HOF modes. The Hell Bolter and Dragu's Hell Bolter are what you get when you kill him in respectively normal and HOF.

Definately worth the hassle...

 

But killing him will make every attack me.

BTW the Doom Bolter gives you 2 attacks per round with a normal croosbow do you normally only get one no matter what your BAB is. Or does it increase your number of attacks per round by 2?

 

They will all attack. It's a really fun slaughterfest. Almost as good as wiping out the Black Raven monks. Pick your poison... goody goodyness or a hell bolter. It's your call.

As for the number of attacks, I'm afraid I don't know.

 

I think i will kill them all. At first i couldnt think of a reason why my paladin would kill people who didnt attack him just for some loot. But since they are evil slave trders i guess its a good enough reason. There arent any plot repurcussions by killing them are there cause i have had bad experiences in other games killing people for equipment.

BTW still wondering bout the crossbow attacks per round.

 

Crossbows only have one shot per round regardless of your BAB. Doom Bolter has 2 shots and Hell Bolter 3, I think.

The best place to start a fight with the Druegars is their temple. Try stealing from the coffin and everyone goes red. This way you get rid of most spellcasters first. Then block the way and hack and slash your way to fun.

The only bad repurcussions are from not killing them as a pack of them will attack you later unless you move first.

 

Wow cool cant wait to kill them. And get that croosbow cause apart from them they all suck with only one attack per round pathetic.

 

Most of the crossbows follow the 1 attack/round rule, but there are exceptions. Hagnen's Folly and Geloise (and their HOF counterparts) give attacks according to normal BAB progression and they also work with Rapid Shot. The best of these 'bugged' crossbows is the Heavy Crossbow of Accuracy +4. How's +10 toHit/+6 to damage (and 1d8 base bolt damage instead of 1d6 as with bows) with up to 5 attacks/round for starters?

As for Doom/Hell bolters, they SET your number of attacks to a certain value, regardless of you BAB. Normal Doom bolter gives 2 attacks, Dragu's Hell Bolter (HOF) gives 4 attacks and the remaining two give 3 attacks per round.
