I'm finding it rather difficult to get back into BG. I never really finished the game, aside from killing Sarevok. I've looked at the mods for the game and found not many that interest me. The Gray Clan looks possible, yet it describes some nasty creatures/fights I'd prefer not to get involved in and doesn't kick in until I get to the city. FYI, here's what I'm looking and not looking for:

    1) I don't want a mod that alters the AI. I enjoy stupid NPCs, tyvm. :p
    2) I don't want tougher battles. I work hard enough keeping my little group alive as it is.
    3) I prefer to play multiplayer, so an NPC mod seems silly to install.
    4) I'd like a quest mod that starts near the beginning of the game - FAI, Beregost or Nashkel.
    5) I don't have Tutu and would rather not install it. There's not much Tutu hold for me other than giving certain multiclasses more than one weapon slot.

Thanks for any suggestions and for reading this. I know I'm sounding very picky.

There's a tiny BG1 Slime Quest mod somewhere on the site that happens in Beregost, but past that I can't think of anything you'd want. :(

There are far too many people who think that BG2 and BG1Tutu are the only games to mod for. Fortunately, Baronius isn't one of them. He's got a site (www.blackwyrmlair.net) with a few mods that are compatible with original BG1, so you might check there.

Echon's Fields of the Dead mod might interest you. It changes the stuff to better fit pnp (though, yeah, it does change enemy AI and abilities). You can find it here: http://www.pocketplane.net/fotd

You are right though that most BG1 mods are Tutu only, because the engine is a lot less limited. :)

Kuemper, Grey Clan is a fun mod I think you've got to try out. Yes, it has some hard battle in store for you, but nothing near what tactics will do to a randome generic mage in BG2, FX.
Grey Clan starts in Baldur's Gate though.

How about Darkside of the Coast. That adds some good gaming time to BG1.

Darkside usually only kicks in in the later stages. iirc you have to finish cloackwood for the first quest to "open". Traditionally it has been considered a bit buggy, dunno if the WeiDu version is finished yet though, might have fixed some of that.

Personally i did like it though. Some of the items was a "little" overpowered ..... like the druid boots with haste + free movement. And the Ettin's Wand that i completelly dominated the entire game with. Heck there was a good while my entire strategy was centered about getting as fast as posible to that one Wand, and sell/rebuy it.

What is BG:Tutu? I've never heard of it.
About Dark Side of TSC, did anyone else have serious problems with what I can only describe as Faerie Fire? Druids would cast it on the party and they'd become berserk, attacking the party, all the while glowing that purplish colour. I still have no idea how to cure it either.

I looked and looked and couldn't find anything up to my 'high standards'. So, I'm going with the regular game. Maybe this time I can manage Durlag's and werewolf isle.
