I am looking for a humorous fantasy book I read in high school. I lost the book long ago, but it occurred to me recently that I might be able to pick it up on the internet somewhere. The problem is I can't remember the name of the book, or the author, or even most of the story! Here is what I do remember: The book was, as I said, a humorous fantasy adventure. It was a standard adventuring party, including a barbarian. They found a statue during a dungeon crawl that was made of some rare metal or rock. It was a very lifelike statue. Since the substance was extremely rare, they sold it for a huge amount of money. Then the statue turned out to be some great magician (I think) that had been petrified. That is all I really remember. Oh, there was this old bum that turned out to be an insanely poweful magician or something. I know this is kind of vague, but I thought I would post here since everyone seems to be quite knowledgeable. Maybe some one remembers this and can give me a title/author? I bought this from a fantasy/sci-fi book club in the late 80s or early 90s.
