Hi, I'm in the Cloakwood Mines, level 2, and there are two lightning traps that spring before entering a room filled with archers. I'm not sure how to disarm the traps. I have a thief with 40% find traps, I highlight the find traps icon, and then slowly move the character forward in the direction of the trap. He never disarms it. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks!

The problem probably is that your find trap skill is too low: when the trap, let's say has a defined difficulty rate of 50 and your skill is only 40 - then your thieves aren't experienced enough to find it. And: Since you have two thiefs you should try to take care that they have skills that supplement each other: One of them yould be a high stealth/ find traps dungeon delver and the other could be the open locks/ pick pocket city kid ;)
When you have a cleric I'd suggest you try the find traps spell instead. This should help you to overcome your low skills for the moment.

Sometimes a thieves "find traps" ability is high enough to detect a trap, but not high enough to disarm it. One solution to that problem is having the said thief drink a potion of power, perception, or master thievery to boost their skill level up temporarily so they can disarm the trap.
Also a luck spell could help, but it only adds 5% and it lasts about 2 rounds so you have to be quick.

the other option in that particular spot you are in, is continue farther down the hall (to the right side of the screen) past those rooms full of boxes. at the end of the hall is a secret door, you can use that passage to by pass the traps, and enter that room (filled with archers, and a nasty mage) from another secret door, or you could use the passage to by pass that room altogether and just move on to the next level.

With your thief detecting traps, have you seen the trap trigger point outlined in red yet? If so, then your find traps ability is fine, and all you need to do is disarm it. Disarming a trap is not automatic, you have to select the other thief ability icon (the same one as picking locks IIRC) and then click on the red-outlined trigger point.

Thanks for the help, im going to try downing a couple of power potions and then try to disarm, if that doesn't work, i'll bypass the section and look for the secret door into the archers room. No way am I going to miss taking out those guys.
