Help on Mage level up system

Hi! i'm new to icewind dale rpg system and i am wondering how can i level up my mage spell.I'm currently at chapter 1 with mage level 2 and only can cast 1 spell unless rest for next round.Can anyone help me on how to level up their spell,how to cast more spell,and alas,how to get more spell to cast.Thanx~!

 

Being able to cast more spells is gained as you go up in levels.

IE - 1st level Mage can cast 1 1st level spell. 2nd level Mage can cast 2 1st level spells and so forth.

New spells are gained when you find mage scrolls and write them to your spellbook. Then when you rest, you select which spells you want to memorize and to have later.

Each memorized spell can only be cast once, then you must rest again to re-learn the spell to memory.

Mages are the weakest at low levels but it works out great when they attain higher levels and greater experience.

creating your mage with high INT will also increase the number of spells they gain per level, as well as their max spell lvl and chance to learn a spell from a scroll. Don't go for anything less than 18.
