I'm working my way through PS:T and am a little confused with the factions.

I read the "ALL THINGS FACTIONAL" topic on the PS:T front page ( http://sorcerers.net/Games/Torment/Factions.php ).

Based on that, and my *limited* experience, I have a few questions:

    1. Can you join more than one Faction, or change from one Faction to the other?

    2. Can you pursue more than one Faction, just racking up the exp.. from completing their quests?

    3. Any suggestions on the best faction to join? So far I've done 1 or 2 Dustman quests, but the group seems WAY LAME.

    Thanks!

    MAT

I would say go with the Godsmen, I like their philosophy, and they have a great store with some way cool items only available to Godsmen. Also discover about your past as a Sensate, rather than join them directly.
That way you will get the benefits of two factions at once; the only case where you can do that AFAIK. I wrote the details about how to find out that you already are a sensate at http://sorcerers.net/Games/Torment/join_sensates.php
Check the block of text below the original way how to join them.

And once you're in one faction, you can't change, IIRC. As for quests, sure, do whichever you want to the point where you would actually get accepted into the faction. (I.e. when the faction symbol shows on your stats page.)

I dont know if others have had my experience but this is what I did: I joined the dusties first, then I went and joined the sensates, when I did this they told me to forsake my dustie beliefs. I did. I then went and joined the godsmen, they told me to forsake my sensate beliefs. I did. I then joined the anarchists.

    Result:
the stats screen said I was in the godsmen and anarchists, however, all the NPC's thought I was still in their faction so I could still go to the dustie and sensate store. The only downside is you lose sensory touch and the ability to use dustie and sensate items.

Mat, if you choose to join Anarchists (must be Godsmen member before), you'll be able to infiltrate other three factions.
But if you resign any of factions just to become other's member, there's no turning back.
So, if you are planning to become an anarchist, don't join Dustmen yet!

Also, all said above is true.

Too bad you can't join mercykillers and get that cool armor :(

If you're looking for good eq, join the godsmen. You'll also be granted access to see some weird cannon-thingie.

Since you can't get any armor in the game, whinning for Mercykillers is waste of time.

Yes, join Godsmen, but not for the greater good or items (improve hammers and buy special hammer from Vrischika - it's better than any Godsmen weapon!), join them because as Godsman you'll get WIS+1 from Sarossa (don't forget to ask Saros of her special ability), and you'll have an open path to Anarchists who in fact are not the most evil party in the game!

[IMG] Anyone remember the poor Chaosmen? There's not really much point joining them, especially if you've killed the Starving Dogs (whatever) for whoever it was...
Just talk to Barking Wilder with high enough wisdom- like I say its pretty useless but if you want to experience everything in the game...
