Like Damona's poll, I don't want to go around and ask strangers on the street questions and such, so I'm asking you all.

How much television do you watch per week? What do you watch in general?

Thanks a lot for all of your help.

Absolutely not. Zero tv hours for me. I use my tv more for videos and video games more than anything else.

45 mins to 1 hour. Per week.
    That's Xena.

I watch nothing else. Why? I got sick of forcing bad news on TV that I simply don't nor will care about.

Sorry, I probably should've added this in, but it was supposed to be for Americans. So if you're from the U.S., just say so. Non-Americans, please post; I'll probably need the extra information.in.

Thanks once again. :) (I watch around 8 hours of TV per week, tops. Wow, that's 5% of my life in front of the Idiot Box.)

It varies pretty widely from week to week for me. Probably a minimum would be 0 and a maximum would be 15, with the most frequent being around 5 or 6. There are a few shows that I try to catch every week if it's not a repeat (Enterprise, JAG, 24, X-Files), there are some that I catch if I remember it's on (like Junkyard Wars), and then there are the occasional movies or something on PBS, the History Channel or Discovery Channel that interests me.

Due to the people I cohabitate with, the TV is on 12 hours a day, at least.

Out of all that, I actually watch The Simpsons, Drew Carey, King of the Hill and Seinfeld every day, but I actually get them about two days a week, so that's eight hours right there.

Then there's the weekly shows that I try to catch- South Park, Insomniac, The Practice, NYPD Blue, and Boston Public. That's four more hours.

Let's tack on another four per week for the random History Channel show, news, and miscellaneaous.

To sum it up, I actually watch TV about 16 hours a week. Wow. I didn't think I watched that much TV. But then, I'm never just plunked down in front of the tube, I'm always cooking dinner, doing homework, cleaning something, or messing with the computer.

I used to watch alot of T.V., however they took off my fave show Voyager, and the new Enterprise Sucks!

So I stick to movies, and the occasional Law & Order. I would say total about 3 hours per week.

Im Canadian though so dont know if I count :p

Other than sport on telly, very little - brobably 2-4 hrs per week.

I also tend to watch at least on average 2 games per week on telly, sometimes more so add another 6 - 10 hrs for sport.

UK based, so we have football without the use of hands. :)

[IMG] Maybe it appears to be more since the shows you listed add up to 24 not 20. :)

I watch about 6 hours of TV a week. Mostly news or news like programs - 60 Minutes. I also watch about another 6 hours in movie a week on my TV but they are DVDs. So I wasn't sure if you only wanted TV programming or actual time sitting in front of the TV.

Around 10 hours. Most of it either watching the news or some movie or show like JAG with the rest of the family.

I have to say at least 40 hours a week, mostly comedy shows and movies.

I watch T.V. when utterly bored. Even then I can only watch for a hour or two before I get sick of it. I usually watch cartoons or comedy shows.

The problem with this, and the previous school project thing is that you are sample is not at all repesentative - it is a group of self selected (by whatever criteria) individuals, and so by its nature may be biased. You should write that in your conclusion...

About 10-15 hours a week. Depends what is on tv.

    What do I watch:
Movies (Depends which movies they are showing)
    Sitcom
Series (like Star Trek, Buffy etc.)
Sports (Formula 1, Champ cars, sumo wrestling)
Discovery Channel (Depends if something interesting is on)
    The Simpsons
And of course some things I forgot to mention.

An hour a day on the weekday, two-three hours on the weekends. So 7-8 hours total.

    more info:

On the weekdays that hour is spent watching sports highlight shows over breakfast and Seinfeld reruns over dinner. Over the weekend I watch a single sports game which amounts to two-three hours of watching.

From Monday to Thursday "Der Doktor und das liebe Vieh" with my grandma (old english veterinary series).
1 to 2 times the week "Tatort" (thriller) or another thriller or science fiction.
So it makes 7 hours per week.
