[IMG] My potions of invisibility do not work. I am in the candlekeep libray, and per advice from dudleyville, wish to remain invisible until I've finished looting the place. This is the first time I've tried to use the potion. All my dialog box says is "gulp". My thief looks invisible but there is no indication in the portrait or character description page to indicate invisibility. Everyone sees him and keeps talking to him, which is messing up what I wish to do. The spell of invisibility works but only lasts for a few seconds of game time...I would expect 12 hours of game time to last longer then it takes to climb six flights of stairs. Every place I've looked says how great this potion is. Why does it not work for me? Thanks.

Also, in BG characters who are supposed to have a conversation with you, will do so even if you are invisible or hidden.

Drink one of those potions. Then, make a member of your party attack your character with a ranged weapon or a spell. If they can't, the potion is working.

Ranged weapon still works on invisible characters so long as you can kinda see them (a la Improved Invisibility). But the spell test would work. Unfortunately, I don't remember if that would use up the spell, so I'd save before trying it.

IIRC, the effects from a potion of invisibility go away if you move to another area (going to another level in Candlekeep, for example). Same with the effect from the vanilla invisibility spell. Also, improved invisibility makes you only kind of invisible; you can't be targetted with spells (I think), but you can still be attacked (with -4 penalty).

Tried the test and the potions are indeed working. I've now been able to get through the library. Thanks.
