  1. [IMG] What kind of depression is it when you are do bored with life, that you contemplate suicide?
I would pfrer a straigh answer, and possible a description of it, and listing of symptoms. Not just an opinion.

If you do not have a helpful answer, please do not post in this thread.

There are more depressions that can end in such tragedy. I don't know there is one specific name or just one kind of depression that causes this.

The cause can be many things... a bad youth, sexual abuse, no friends... afraid of future.... it can also have no cause at all.

    [IMG] Main Entry: welt·schmerz
    Pronunciation: 'velt-"shmerts
    Function: noun
    Usage: often capitalized
Etymology: German, from Welt world + Schmerz pain
    Date: 1875
1 : mental depression or apathy caused by comparison of the actual state of the world with an ideal state
    2 : a mood of sentimental sadness

Reading Goethe's The Sorrows of Young Werther will yield a perfect example.

Of course, it's not so simple as being just bored of life. It did lead to many, many suicides though.

ICD-F32.3 I believe it was. A medical codeterm for depression with psychotic episodes. As mentioned before, numerous things such as loss or suffering in childhood, strong emotional problems combined with extreme stress, actual physical defect or brain tumor, any one of these and more can cause this.

The most likely option however is a chrisis. Don't undermine "chrisis" when I say so. Though it is very common to all ppl in certain age periods, it can feel quite oppressive to an individual. And when combined with some of the pre-mentioned reasons, even a healthy person can experience extreme depression. Not much you can do except fight within yourself to find something worth living for, though it may seem nearly impossible.

The codeterm I mentioned above is often referred to cases with years of background or very strong symptoms (a friend of mine had this). In case you recognize this has gone on for a long time, go see someone who can help. Because they CAN help. With professional counseling and support from your family & friends and possibly some medication you will quite likely recover, even though it might take time. It'll make your life easier at the very least.

I will say again: The last thing one would usually want to hear, but often true, is that this is a chrisis quite common with ppl in puberty. Around the age of 14-20 I would say. This is NOT to make the meaning and importance of the chrisis appear any less important. Just that many people experience ICD-F32.1 or .2 (mild depression, serious depression without psychotic episodes) in their lives for a certain amount of time. I had mine, many of my friends had theirs. In case it was something like this, it would often come in episodes. With some, once or twice in a week. And some, once or twice in a month or two. It usually lasts from a couple of months to the more common year or even two. But one will VERY likely come out of it ok.

I'd still suggest you seek a professional, it's very good to speak to a psychologist. The few times I have, I always enjoyed it. They're wonderful people I assure you.

Symptoms or like can be found here: "http://www.a-silver-lining.org/BPNDepth/criteria_d.html#MDDSingleEpisode" "http://www.frii.com/~parrot/icd.html"
Or you can search yourself. Just use searchwords "icd f32". Those links were the first that came across with google, and they do their purpose well. There might be better sites out there as well.

  5. I thank you all for the prompt answers.
My mother doesnt get it, and I cant explain it to her, she just thinks that Im being rebelious.
I know that boredom is something that everyone faces at times, but when very little intrests you, and even those things only for a short time, that normally indicates a problem.
If anyone else has something else to add, thanks.

It sounds to me like you are finding your place in the world. Try different activities, studies, hobbies, etc. Try to discover what you have passion for. It is not easy and you may have to try many things before it becomes obvious to you.
If you really feel suicidal, please, talk to someone about it. Not just friends and family (although it is a good idea), but a professional. Those closest to you cannot be objective.
There is much to live for, even if it is just breathing the air. Take the chance at life that you have and run with it. You only get one.
