I'm doing all the optional quests available in Chapter 2, except the High Level Encounters. Should I attempt these before going of to Spellhold? I'm going to do the one that has the Celestial Fury, but what about Kangaxx, or the other Liches. And the Twisted Rune?

Most of my characters will be about 13-15 level before I even enter Chapter 3, so will I manage against these now?

I take it that you have played through before, if not, stop reading. You can do everything before spellhold, making that part of the game easier. However, if you plan on taking Imoen, she will be behind in experience and will never reach her potential. I found this out the hard way. It didn't matter too much in the end, as both Aerie and Imoen were able to get the job done. Next time through I will leave some stuff so Imoen can get more experience and give me access to higer level spells at the end.

But if that is your plan, then by all means try to do Kangaxx. The prize will be more useful to you if you get it earlier. The dragons as well (especially Firkragg). My life would have been much easier if I had taken him out before instead of after.

What I will do next time I play is leave a lot of the minor quests until after I get Imoen. If there is a big payoff (Kangaxx, Firkraag, Guarded Compound), then I will do it before Spellhold.

CF is easy, the Lichs kan also be killed including Kangaxx (use spell immunity, then it's easy). Twisted Rune seems to be impossible to me yet, let that one rest for when you return from the Underdark.

I did the twisted rune this morning, and frankly, i was dissapointed with it. i only lost 3 of my party members, and killed all the baddies easily.. i was expecting it to be a lot harder than that and well....

[IMG] Indeed, when loosing just three party members it must have been an easy fight ...

[IMG] Spudsquisher is another of those people who's definition of easy is much different than mine! "I only lost half of my people! Boy was THAT easy!" ;)

Ok, since this post I got Keldorn and Jan back after their side-quests. Now I'm about half way through the Unseeing Eye Quest, just before entering the beholder tunnels.

I opened the sarcophagus in the outcasts lair and attacked the shadow liche.

I sent Minsc into berserker rage and cast protection from magic/abduration on Nalia. Then i sent these in alone to fight the liche. Oh, I also summoned a spider, and an air elemental.

Firstly I realised that the liche actually appears miles away from the tomb, so I wasn't prepared for him, so my spider got flattened by his death spell.

I sent my remaining three at the liche, but his protections were too great for me. I got Anomen to summon an aerial servant and sent it in to the fray. I alos death-warded Minsc, just in case.

Nothing really hit him, and he killed the air elemental and had the aerial servant stunned. Then he summoned am efreeti, and stunned Minsc. I summoned kithix, the spider and the berserker from the horn, using them to distract the spells. He used wail of the banshee, but everyone saved. His fireshield was doing damage to the berserker warrior, so I used the stadd of fire to summon two lesser fire elementals, sending them in when kithix died.

By now Nalia's spell protection wore off, and Minsc was dead. I sent Keldorn in behind the liche when the efreeti was killed. The liche ran out of spells, so my fire elementals, naila, the berserker, and Keldorn killed him easily.

It wasnt too hard to kill him, but it I had of sent all my party in first, most of them would be dead! It was a long battle though, and my Black Spider Figurine dissapeared completely. It said it had returned, but it didn't. I checked my party's ineventories, but nothing. AAARGH! Oh well, it wasn't brialliant anyway, but it was useful for a distraction!

I got the golden legs and arms, and looked around, but where was the black spider figurine?

    Your help would be appreciated,

    Herr'Don
