Hive Mothers & Death Tyrants (WK spoilers)

[IMG] I ran into these beholders on the last level of Watcher's Keep (at the thing that dispenses gumballs... well... whatever :)) along with an Elder Orb. What are they? Do they have any special spells that make them different from other beholders (like Elder Orbs can cast Imprisonment).

The Hive Mother was tough but the Death Tyrant went down in seconds and wasn't worth much XP.

Now I've got a backpack full of gumballs, hehe.

One other thing that may interest... at about level 24 cleric or so Anomen's Turn Undead can turn liches!!! Holy crap I couldn't believe it, this guy is the undead's worst nightmare!

I haven't found them different from other Beholders except for the fact that they enjoy using their instant-kill or status rays more than others and they have some extra hp. Maybe they cast their eye rays faster than other beholders, but nothing special.

As for the gumballs, put them in the corresponding pillars (you only need one of each color.)

You should get one of the keys and move on to the southern set of tests.

I didn't think the Undead were capable of having nightmares...

Yeah, what's with those gumballs anyway?? The note makes it sound like you're going to be able to actually do something with them...

You can put all but one of each colour into your quick item slots. When used, these produce a variety of spell effects such as heal and fireball.

What Wildfire said, and the ones you cant use are the ones that you are meant to put in the pillars.

This is a bit off the topic, but *BLANK* *BLANK* why the heck didn't I think about turn undead? Jeez... and with a L27 cleric too... (my PC). Grr. The Lich guardian has been annoying me--maybe this will fix him.

You mean you've played through with a level 27 cleric and have *never* turned undead? That's what they're for, no? Clerics, I mean.
