    Y'know, the very first fantasy book I read was The Hobbit, but I had no idea what fantasy fiction was all about. Tolkien went into so much detail about his world, complete with maps, that at first I wondered if he actually had evidence that that world had really existed sometime in the distant past.

    Of course, it didn't take me long to figure out what he was doing. But now I'm starting to wonder all over again... :xx: :p

    Yeah, that is front page news in the New Zealand Herald this morning. Probably no more momentous than any other anthropological discovery but someone called them "hobbits" so it becomes newsworthy. Brilliant.

    Yeah, I saw that in the paper earlier today. It got about 5 seconds of my attention, then I saw a nice pair of **** on the next page, so I never really managed to get around to reading it.

    Existed???? How do we know that they don't still exist. We(humans) lasted this long, why not them as well. They just act like Hobbits of the Tolkein world. They can hardly be seen by us as they hear as coming a mile off, so they run and hide.
    Whenever you hear strange noises in the woods......you get my point.
