So I hear that monsters in HoF mode have a lot more hit points? Does that mean they're much higher level too? Or are they the same level but with a d100 HD instead of a d10? (For example, is a HoF goblin a level 1 or 2 monster or a level 20 monster as far as saving throw/DC checks are concerned?) Or does HoF mode just break all those rules and create new ones? And if so, anyone knows those rules?

I think that it moves the monsters up the level table since they give so much xp. A level 30 character in normal mode would get 0 xp from a goblin, but in HOF mode the character would get about 50xp.

The BAB for goblins is +29 which = a Level 29 Fighter, which would be about right in my estimation.

BTW even the Fire Kegs in the Shaengarne Ford give 2400xp in HOF mode. So all things must move up the scale.

PS I just read that based on the xp gained goblins are level 7 creatures in HOF mode.

[IMG] I'm reasonably sure they do not get more HD (Hit Dice). Their HoF HP's is calculated with a simple formula. I believe it's something like this:
    (Normal HP's * 3) + 80 = HoF HP's
    An example:
A monster which has 8 HP's in normal would get 104 HP's in HoF ((8*3)+80).
The exact figures may very well be wrong, but at least they are in the right area.

It's important that they do not get more HD, because as an example this means that you still can use Sleep on the Goblins. HD = Level for monsters, or at least it used to be that way. Correct me if I'm wrong. :)

Perhaps you're right, but I found in HOF that those sleep type spells would not work unless you were kick butt high level over them. They make their saves more easily, so you need the Spell Focus Feats to help as well.
