The red in the background is an utter nightmare on your eyes, so have something to switch across to. 20 questions, all multiple choice.

BTW, I got 16 out of 20 - and I live there! Well, by "there", I mean Melbourne, as opposed to the middle of the sunburnt and bone-dry nowhere that is outback Australia. To be fair, every time I guessed, I guessed wrongly.

Apparently, I can handle myself in a conversation at an Aussie pub, but the regulars will still mutter "Bloody Yank..." when I leave.

17 out of 20 here ... never actually heard people say most of these, but by a process of deduction and being familiar with what has to be bull**** - I managed to do well :)

Same as DS. On returning to SP from the site, it took my eyes several minutes to adjust, because of the damn red! :spin: :grr:

    You got 14 answers right.
    You got 6 answers wrong.
You're a battler. Not much of a one, mind... but getting there.
You will have no trouble getting around, and understanding most things that are said to you. However avoid RSL clubs and old peoples homes, the nuances are lost on you.

A lot better than I expected. Thank you Fingerspitzengefühl. :D

And I didn't really mind the red.

You're a bit of a galah with the lingo.
...and you have a long way to go still, until you'll be able to understand directions to get to the nearest public dunny.

    Well...

    You're a bottler, mate!
You are a fair dinkum, ridgy didge, dinky die, true blue, dyed-in-the-wool Ocker-like strine speaker. Well bugger me, you could probably even play a didgeridoo and know the proper way to twirl a billy. Goodonya. Get us another stubbie while you're up, will ya... and have one yourself while you're at it!

@ Felinoid: "nong" is another word for someone who is a bit slow, mentally deficient, or just someone you think is a bit of an idiot. Don't worry, though - very few people actually speak like that, as Aik and I can attest.

@ HB: BWAHAHAAAAAAAAA! You're an Aussie in New Zealander clothing! And you'll have to live with that for the rest of your days!

@ Ofelix: We speak 'Strine, ya nong! (j/k)

If you can't handle the red on the screen, then stick to the cities if/when you're here. Red dust and sand = about 50% of Australia.

Not surprised that the Brits are doing so well; after all, we pump out so many crappy dramas (seriously, Neighbours is only still getting made to be sent overseas, IMO) and send so many backpackers your way, it'd be hard not to pick a bit of 'Strine.

I don't think that understanding Australians makes me one. I say it pays to know your enemy!

10 out of 10. Not bad I guess considering that Hawaii is as close to Australia as I've ever gotten. And I thought they spoke English in Austalia. :D

You know what they say, HB - gaze into the abyss long enough, and the abyss also gazes into you. You can deny it, fight it, try to ignore it - but you'll never escape it! NEVER! :p

Umm... khazadman, you did notice that it was a 20-question test, didn't you?
