First of all create all of the characters you want and save them. Long time since i did this but I think that you should pick TCP/IP and then just start a new game and import your saved characters. If you manage to get the game started save and move the save game file from the MP-folder to the SP-folder and you also get rid of the pause delays.

    1) Start a TCP/IP multiplayer game.
    2) Create your characters
    3) Start the game, save (name it "Unfpoop")
    4) Exit game, check "mpsave" folder for a file named "Unfpoop" and move it under "save" folder.
    5) Load a single player game named "Unfpoop."

Easy, and if you do it right in the start, the romances will advance normally too.

Have you tried uninstalling you 56k modem? If you're using broadband you don't need it.

Well I just start a multi-game, turn of listen to join requests and turn on pausing dialogue. If you want to do it the other way, best thing you can do is pre-gen your chars, transfer them to another computer, create the save game there, transfer it back, (since you seem to have trouble starting a multi-game on your comp, using a diff. computer might help). You shouldn't need an internet connection to create a tcp/ip game.
