[IMG] I'm doing the Never's Tomb quest in chapter one and I am in the Blacklake district. Can someone tell me a good way for a sorcerer to deal with those pesky swords-of-Never? They keep getting me and my little party.:D

If you can afford it, buy a Greater Swordsman's Belt. I have one now, and it's fantastic! Most things including animals seem to do slashing damage :)

I buffed up with potions and just went for it with my Ranger. Even then I got killed a couple of times.

Finally I used many potions and was able to pull it off. I believe I used Barkskin, Speed, Bless, Bull's Strength and Cat's Grace, plus my first level Resist Elements spell.

I just took a potion of speed.. ran for the artifacts and teleported home.
Doesn't really answer your question, but.. :)

I used an oil of speed and a barkskin potion - and kicked Tomi out of the party temporarily - to prevent him from getting beat up. Worked pretty well, only took me a few healing potions ;)

I'm a cleric - I cast invisibility sphere, and wandered over to the artifacts, grabbed them an walked out. I tired fighting a couple of times, but the experience just wasnt worth it.

What i did like was the way that it fittied in with those books that you find around, when they talk about the magical blades, laid point outwards, so that they attack any intruder, then that is actually true! Just thoguht it was cool....

[IMG] what i do when possible on tough monsters is use a door.
stand on one side of the door and have the monster on the other.
when you get to 1/3 health close the door.
    then rest
    and repeat
This worked good for my Ranger on several tough monsters although later they seemed to figure it out and started smashing the doors or opening them :hmm: guess they get smarter... but in chap 1 or chap 2 they are too stupid to do anything :) I'm now using a wizard and use a similer tequnique although now i stick a summoned monster and my familier on the other side at a safe distance. firing off spells from a distance. then when the monster is about to kill my distractions  i close the door rest and resommon them :) this has worked for me so far but my wizard is only on chap 2 now so i don't know how long my decoys will work..

Yes that would be nice to know. Mainly if I should even bother with the quest.

[IMG] Yeah, I remember that battle now. First time I went in unprepared and was wiped out. My character was a rogue 3/wizard 5 or 6.

Reload and organized my spells and rested. Second time I went in with Daelan and a summoned Dire Wolf. Let them rush the swords. Stood behind and cast fireball (played normal rules so did not hurt my allies). Followed up with magic missiles, Melf's acid arrows and whatever damage spells I have. When the swords reached me, I went into parry mode, waiting for Daelan and the Dire Wolf to finish them off. Was quite easy that second time.

[IMG] I'm a sorceror and here's what I did. I cast that energy damage reducing spell on my henchman and summon then I haste myself, go into the tomb and let the henchman and summon engage, lobe a couple of fireballs and hope the henchman survives. Usually all the swords get wiped out after the third fireball~

    I think its around 246 xp each~

Asking how much experience any monster gives you for killing it is almost meaningless because it depends on your level and how many "companions" you have.

In one of the books (Lord Never's Tomb, I think. It's one of the blue cover ones) it says that if you read the runes and follow the pattern you can enter the tomb without causing the swords to attack. Has anybody been able to do this?

Capt. Tripps, yes, I've read that one too, but it's not possible to do this in the game. If you want to sneak by the swords just use invisibility.

I ended going back there right before the end of the chapter when I was level 8 and I still had some trouble. Just use a lot of potions, that's all I can say.
