How many "SP Countries" have you visited?

    [​IMG] This is a bit of a test as to how well travelled you are, as well as how well you know your fellow SPers.

    Simple enough question: how many countries have you visited of which you can name an SPer who lives there?

    Back up your answer with the list of countries, including at least one SPer who lives there.

    Obviously the second part of this will get easier as we go along but I thought it would be interesting nonetheless.

    So here goes, I have been to the following that I can think of:

    New Zealand (Rotku)
    Australia (Stu)
    U.S.A. (Nakia)
    U.K. (Barmy Army)
    Canada (Splunge)
    Greece (BOC)
    Netherlands (Pac man)
    Belgium (Meatdog)
    Ireland (Colthrun)

    So my total is only 9, which should be easy to beat.

    Doesn't impact Felinoid, but you can't count your own country unless you can think of someone else from there.

    Oh, if I had remembered that Dendri was from Germany, I would have been able to list 10.

    Actually, for an international site, our members are oddly restricted to a narrow group of countries.

    Not really. This thread only covers the cross-section of travelling and SPers. Tal's from Slovenia, but have any of us gone there? Just because a country's not a popular travel destination doesn't mean we don't have any SPers from there. :p

    But Felinoid, there are also several popular destinations that have no obvious members. South Africa is one that springs to mind.

    Well, Harbs, that list is more of a split between my brother and I.

    Poland, Finland, Denmark, Belgium, Spain, Greece and U.K were places my brother visited.

    Canada, U.S., and Ireland are places I've been myself. I have visited Brazil as well, but I know of no SPer from there.

    New Zealand remains unvisited, but I plan to. Mexico, Australia and Tasmania as well are on the list.

    3. Germany - Dendri, Schaf, Fabius Maximus (iirc)
    4. Turkey - Silverstar, Misantrophe
    5. France - Rasalgethi
    6. Austria - BogiTheWaverer
    7. Finland - Ara, Wirhe, Morgoroth
    8. UK (a cheat, as I live here too!) BA, Shell, bleedme, Arifirh.
    Not bad, as I've never thought of myself as widely travelled. It'd be good to some more exotic places in Eastern Europe or Asia as well, though. No idea when I'll have the time or money to do it, mind!

    Good work, Magpie. It is interesting that it is such a stretch to find members from European countries like France, Austria, Switzerland, and Italy, all of which I have visited, but I can't think of any SPers from there.

    Cheers, HB. I can't claim to have ever seen BogiTheWaverer or Rasalgethi post, but they were the top-listed posters I found when searching for "Austria" and "France" respectively in the Location field, thus I deemed them most worthy of mention. :p Of course, if anyone else from either of those countries who feels more deserving wishes to make themself known, they're more than welcome. ;)

    @Uytuun: as an Englishman, I should also point out the difficulty of finding those among my fellows who can form a sentence in French - or indeed any other foreign language. In fact, if you ever go to Newcastle and you'll find that they can't form sentences in English, either. :shake:
