[IMG] ... do you have between emerging from the Underdark and having to complete the rest of the game? I finished the game for the first time last night (Yea!) but a couple things I wanted to see through to completion didn't happen (romance with Jaheira looked like it was finally going to reach a peak and it looked like I was going to finally get to spank Lord Roennal back at the keep) (boo!).

I guess it boils down to how long can I blow off Irenicus to do other stuff? Is it even time critical to do that errand for the elves and come back?

Thanks in advance for any guidance on this!

Good question. I did the same as you the first time through as I worried about leaving things too late. I am soon to face the same dilema again as I've nearly finished in the Underdark. My guess is that it probably doesn't matter. Bioware tend to try and highten the tension and atmosphere by suggesting (in the characters' dialogue) that things are urgent but they rarely are. (The start of Baldurs Gate 1 and leaving KandleKeep springs to mind). If things really are critical, I'm sure the game would warn you. Again it does on other quests.
Also it can't be that time critical as there are several other locations (forests) to explore once you get out of the Underdark. I missed these first time through as I was worried about the time factor.

Of course, I haven't tried this so could be horribly wrong. I'll try and remember to post the bad news if I do get caught out this time.

I don´t think there´s a time limit. So I felt while playing it. After finishing the underdark I spent some 14 days in the vicinity around Atkathla untill I finally went to kill Bohdi to get back the Lanthorne.

The quests will be waiting for you (unlike the drows "be-there-att-a-certain-time" quests).

I suppose the best plan is to make a save game called 'ohmygodthereisatimelimit' before dissapearing off to explore anywere else.

Ragusa's right, IIRC the only quests with a time limit are the ones you get from that drow bitch downstairs.

In my first (and only so far) time through I did just about ALL the side-quests after the Underdark because at the start I was really woried about time limits and headed off to spellhold straight away ( I think Aran says if you don't hurry Sameon Havarian will leave without you). When I got to the underdark I was booted about like a little bearded football so I realised I needed a cartload of XPs before I went on. PS I didn't get a romance - being a dwarven lock/trap breaker with minimum charisma.

I spent 50 days after coming to the surface, trying to get the Jaheria romance finished and finally gave up.

Do yourself a favor and never ever try her again. (at least till they fix that whole situation.)
As to stmping the Roennals, that should have happened. most of those events happen every upon one a week for me, though one of 'em came after two. I'm surprised you didn't get it, unless you were hurrying...

I don't think I was hurrying too much. My game ended around day 70. I think I will back up on my save games and start from one I saved after Roenall said he was going to bring an army to curbstomp me. I never went over to Trademeet, so I guess I will just do some exploring for awhile and see what happens.

    Thanks for the replies y'all!

This Roenall business is nothing fun. A messenger came to me and said that my keep was under attack. So I got back "home" and there Roenall was. He has a couple of pathetic guards with him, but those are dead before they can do a thing. Just as Roennal is. You don't get any gold, a little XP and no good armor or something. It s*cks!
