    My group is like this:
    me: cleric -> mage
    Arie: cleric + mage
    Imoen: thief -> mage
    sarovok: fighter -> mage

I installed the Ascension Mode, and I have tried many times to beat the tougher Demongogon, and just failed. It is almost imposible to defeat him!

Any body who has any advice will be welcome.

Can you give some background on your tactics up to this point? It seems rather pointless for us to just list stuff, much of which you've likely already tried. I always employed a liberal use of spellstrike, but I've no idea if any of your characters have access to 9th level mage spells, although it seems like at a minimum your PC and Imoen would. Maybe not with Aerie (being multi-classed) and Sarevok (has he got his fighter levels back at this point? - if not it's going to make this battle a LOT harder). What levels are you, what equipment do you have, what do your HLA tables look like, etc. The more complete your question the better answers we can give.

Don't bother with the Ascension cheats; they just give you headache. All but this one should belong under Tactics, considering what kind of ûber-shizz the AI gets.

Anyway... I beat him with the same strategy as everyone else: turtle into a corner (or to those stairs), summon stuff, and let your mages do their magic. Just remember to buff your characters with chaotic commands and maintain the maximum number of summoned monsters. Especially watch for those planetars and that there is constantly one of them keeping the Big Monkey busy.

what I did is i just lured smaller demons up to the top of the stairs with my F/T and then pounded them in for a while... then i rushed everyone down their and ass soon as they got next to him i had all my fighters use GWW and edwin casted some breach, pierce magic, etc, and I pretty much pounded him into the stoneage in the first try :)

btw I think your party is rather unbalanced due to all the mages... should have at least left sarevok as a fighter

Honestly, it's not all that hard of a fight. Unfortunately for you however, your party is pretty impotent against him. You can lower his resistance all you want, but magic seems to do nothing to him. The best way to beat him is to have a mage or two churn out horrid whiltings, while you have two or three fighters spam GWW on him. Considering no one in your party can use GWW, I am not sure how you are going to win this one.

you are right, my party is quite unbalanced. Magic can only deal with his minions, I have no powerful warrior to bring his HP even down to "Injured" before he regenerates to "Uninjured", although my party have godlike magic power.

here are details of my party:
    me: cleric18/mage25 (All HLA)
    Aerie: cleric24/mage19 (almost All HLA)
    Imoen: thief4/mage29 (All HLA)
    Sarovok: fighter17/mage18 (No HLA)

I had killed Demogorgon when I first played ToB with some poor group and equips with no Ascension mode installed.
I remember he was not so tough like this.
Maybe the original designed Demogorgon is beyond my power.
Maybe I spent too much time on spell study, and lack of physical exercise :)

Tal Rasha: I shall let you live, this time.
Demogorgon: I appreciate your mercy, mortal.
Tal Rasha: When next time we meet, you won't be lucky like this.
Demogorgon: I kneel before your power, mighty one. I promise you will not see me again.
    Tal Rasha: hehehehe......

The reason spells don't seem to work against him is because he is immune to 90% of them. I think anything that's level 8 or lower doesn't affect him at all (or is it 7 or lower)? Given your party that means it's likely that the only thing you have to use is whatever is on the last page of your spellbook.

On the bright side, now that Sarevok has his fighter levels back, he can do some tanking. Also, by the sounds of it, you have some pretty high level summons available to you. It is those summons that are going to have to be your tanks. First of all, you definitely want to memorize a lot of planetars and devas. I don't know what your PCs alignment is, but regardless of whether these are regular devas/planetars or the fallen variety, it will work. I recommend that you attempt to keep as close to the maximum number of summons as you can (so 5 if you can churn them out quick enough).

Even doing so, you are still going to be having problems because of all of the protections that Big D has on him. That's where liberal use of Spellstrike comes in, as it will remove all of his defenses (it doesn't stop him from recasting them, so memorize multiple versions of this spell).

That's about all I can recommend. I can honestly say that I have never even attempted to defeat Big D without at least one (and normally two) people spamming GWW.

Original Demogorgon has contingency with Stoneskin, Aura of Flaming Death and Globe of Invulnerability. After this, he casts only Stoneskin as protective spell.
    He is immune to
    - 1st and 2nd level spell
    - spell Lower Resistance
    - fire(100%), electricity(100%), cold (50%) and magic (90%)
    - weapons with enchantment lower than 3
    - other effects like stun, charm, hold, poison etc.

    Try this tactic:
    - remove his spell protection and lower his magic resistance with spells Pierce Shield and Pierce Magic
    - cast Greater Malison, Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wiltings, Skull Traps, Implosions and others non-fire(electricity) based damaging spells on him
    - don't forget to protect your party members
    - Sarevok can casts Protection from Magical Energy(for protection from Skull Trap), Improved Haste and Protection from Magical Weapons(Demogorgon can't hurt him now) - and other defensive spells - on himself and attacks Demogorgon with meele weapon to keep him busy, so others can cast their spells
    - don't bother yourself with attacking other demons; when you kill few of them, Demogorgon will summon another

Cast a Chain Contingency, stick 3 Project Images, set it to helpless. Cast your own PI. You will be helpless, so CC will kick in and you will have 4 PIs! Each summons MULTIPLE Planetars. You can have an army of Planetars! This is NOT cheese, Demogorgon has its own army right?

He uses TS and Dragon Breath I think so get Fire Resistance!

You MUST use Pro from Magic Weapons a lot.

Chain COntingency, nearest enemy:3 Pierce Shields will leave Demo baby ready for your spells, BREACH and load another CC with Abi Dalzims and sequencers with Skull traps, they do nasty damage. (provided your mages are protected by Protection from Energy or Mirror Image+Luck)

*Demogorgon is immune up to 6th level of spells I think.*

The key point is using Chain Contingency, DO NOT use Time Stop!

One mage (or Project Image) can go berserk with Improved Alacrity+continous Imprisonments if the summoned demons prove to be too much. Be sure to have Robe of Vecna! Though Demo will just summon more.

You need some convenient fighters though. Use Tenser's trans+Imp.haste+Haste+Stoneskin if you feel like it.

Another trick, your PIs can shapechange into Mindflayers and can suck the brains of demons easily. Pre-buff them with Stoneskin+Mimage+PfromMW+Imp.haste+Shapechange THEN add Tenser's trans(all done in a Imp. Alacrity fury in a single round!) and those guys will be DEADLY and totally expandable armies of ilithids!

Hope this helps. Best of luck for the next time!

    @ Tal Rasha

Have Sarevok attack Demogorgon improved hasted, protected by stoneskins, mirror image,prot.f.magical weapons AND the Spell trap from the Staff of the Magi.Keep attacking Demogorgon with Sarevok and when needed recast mirror image or PFMW.

Keep Demogorgon's army busy with your mages and their summons and away from Sarevok if possible.

If Sarevok can't damage him enough attack with your mages.Energy blades can ''eat'' quickly his stoneskins.

For Demogorgon's annoying Energy Drain use scrolls of restoration.

[IMG] I have defeated him, I never imagined it was so easy!

    here is detail:

    Preparation:
every body was protected by PFME,stoneskin, mirror image and chaos command.
I used CC with 3 pierce shield on nearest enemy.

    Attack Start:
    He used TS.
    TS ended.
3 pierce shields canceled his protections and lowered his MR.

I let everyone use CC with 3 Abi Dalzims. A total of 12. When this finished, he died.

    Silverstar, your tactics are great!
And of course thank you everyone!
