1st time: im a blade, had Keldorn and Valygar.
2nd time: barbarian. who should i bring along? Keldorn can use Carsomyr, has his kit spells, can use any armour, but cant side with Bodhi. Minsc is the average fighter. Valygar will use Celestial fury, can backstab, but cant wear all armour. Who should i bring along? by the way I love valygar, and cant get rid of him. hes so damn useful.

Cannot ignore Jan for fun and profit (need his thief skills and he's a worthy mage as well); I would ignore Minsc if you're keeping Keldorn; you need some cleric for specific uses like chaotic commands, turning undead, etc., so you can add Aerie or Anomen, depending on whether you want to be fighter heavy (choosing Anomen) as your post seems to indicate, or, if you want more magic and/or a love interest, then Aerie; you seem bent of Valgyar, so be it; if you want to role play, you can also keep Yoshimo and then take Imoen as circumstances dictate for another mage with a smattering of thief skills.

By the way, I assumed you wanted to be good or neutral, hence, I did not discuss evil characters. Also, I assumed that you wanted to be fighter heavy. I assumed that romance issues were not foremost and/or that you did not feel like putting up with Jaheira.

My second time through I am playing all PCs. Its great because my party is super powerful, and you can set your own agenda by not being constantly distracted by PCs pulling you off task onto other quests. They were fun the first time, but I didn't feel the need to save Jan's neice or chase Jaheira around all over the map the second time. My party is as follows: Monk, Barbarian, Archer, Assassin, sorcerer and Priest of Helm. The only drawback of this party that I have found is you can't use a lot of the armor in the game.
