I realize this might not be the best place to ask (or, conversely, perhaps the best) but I recently purchased copies of Icewind Dale II for some friends of mine through Good old Games (GoG if you're familiar). The intent was to share one of the games I love with them, but I also wanted to have the multiplayer be an available thing for the lot of us to try.

Here's the problem: I can't get it to work.

I've searched for some fixes, but apart from not finding anything specific to the issue at hand all the information I've found seems to be at least 2 years old.

We've tried a few things. Regular direct IP connections don't work. The game attempts to connect, but eventually it just times out.

Hamachi seemed like a good idea, but we get the same connection failure problem.

Gameranger was suggested but that ALMOST didn't fail. When I host the game, my friend can connect but all he gets is the message "Host needs to confirm players" (Or something to that effect) before he gets disconnected.

So far as technical information, all I can really know to tell you guys is that we're both running Windows 7 and the game runs totally fine. We don't have any mods or anything installed either, just the base game as downloaded from GoG.

All I really ask for is some help, even if it's just someone directing me elsewhere. I just want to be able to share one of my favorite games of all time with my friends.
