I've been itching to play BG2 again, but having played IWD2 and Neverwinter Nights, I've become a 3E convert. 2E just doesnt do it for me anymore (sorry 2E fans). So my question is, has anyone used the Icewind Gate conversion? Some feedback on it would be appreciated, as i am really looking forward to using it if it is bug-free. Thanks

AFAIK it is not totally bug-free by any means. Though you may try it nevertheless, I heard it was 'quite' playable. :p

I've played it - quite far through. I wrote a list of a number of bugs, which make the game difficult to play.
    1) You cannot get the Thief Stronghold (Mae'var has a permanent morale failure)
    2) Nalia's Keep is 2 areas - it changes once you have completed it. You cannot return to it (i.e. collecting taxes if it your stronghold) without the "MoveToArea" console cheat. This is because the new area does not overwrite the old one on your world map
    3) The game is not "regular" with difficulty, i.e. easy at the beginning and gets harder as you progress. For example, the Otyugh in Irenicus's Dungeon (right at the beginning) causes Disease and Nausea for 90 seconds. You lose a hit point every second for that period. No-one has that many hit points yet!
    4) Haer'Dails becomes unusable, as any NPC banter with him cause the game to crash. Besides, you cannot get him to join without a "MoveToArea" anyway
    5) Spellhold. A local area variable (DEADJOYE) does not get set, so you cannot get a severed hand after staking some vampire called Dace - thus you cannot leave Spellhold!
    6) When you first change into the slayer, I got charmed! Watch out for this...

I have 18 other errors written down, but they do not prevent you completing the game.

If you want to play it, you NEED an editor to hack some of the bugs, find out areas and set local and global variables.
At the very least, playing this mod will help you on the road to becoming a modder yourself!
