I've got a friend on ICQ, but I cant talk to him because my brother won't let me on it. Is it possible to have 2 ICQs on the same computer?

 

What do you mean with "don't let me on". Do you have your own ICQ number?

 

What she means isthat i won't let her on ICQ because i don't want her using it because if ever tal or TBR needs to talk to me about some SP work they'll think i'm there when i'm not. Is there a way to have two users on ICQ?

Last time I used ICQ was like 99a or 99b.

But yeah, you could have 6 different users hooked up. I had about 3. But, if you're asking "can I run ICQ twice, concurrently", then no.

At least, with 99a/b, you couldn't. You could have two users, and switch back and forth between them without about 2 or 3 clicks. They might have changed them with the newer versions. There's some other program I've seen to that supports the ICQ/AIM/someother-stuff-I've-never-heard-of protocols; like Tweakzilla-v.71 or something.

I think there was a hack/tweak that simplified the icq process; as in, automatically sending your password as opposed to having to type it in. I think it just saves it as plain text in the registry, so it's not secure or anything.

But since you have your sister to *worry* about, maybe you should leave the password in place?

 

No i just meant 2 different users.

 

It's simple. Load up ICQ, click the 'My ICQ' button, go to 'registration to ICQ' then 'Register a New User'.

After she's been registered, you can swap Users by going back to My ICQ, Change User on This Computer, etc.

The program that supports ICQ/AIM/MSN/YIM/IRC is prolly Trillian... Saves a good deal of time

 

I've been using mIRC for about 2 weeks now...and I wanted to know what ICQ is. Is it similar to IRC?

Icq is vastly different from irc.

I'd call irc 1E+10 times more secure, but that's just my litle fantasy world that I live in.

Icq is useful if you have some *very* close friends, and you are looking for them specifically. Irc is useful if you have a problem, or just want to babble/rant.

And yeah, Trillian is the name of the program. Haven't use it, but I've seen some good comments/reviews.

 

I just blocked her 'friend' now anyway. HAHAHAHA!

Yes, Trillian supports all, and allows for you to be logged on to multiple accounts within the same IM network... it's amazing.

 

This may sound like a stupid question, but where can one get these ICQ programs, and which is the best of the bunch?

I like ICQ I've had it for around a year or two but I don't have much people on my list right now scence alot of my buds don't have it.

On the top of the ICQ box, click on the envelope tab. There it gives you the option of adding a new user or importing an esisting user. Therefore, Lady Loulex can make her own account with her own number separate from yours. It's been a while since I've toggled between two ICQ accounts, but I don't remember it bieng hard to do.
