[IMG] You see I happen to be one of those people that really enjoy adventures based on a really interesting and deep story with all kinds of twists and turns. I do of course like a good hack & slash now and then but I do prefer roleplaying. So I was thinking if the following would be possible and enjoyable in NWN.

Since my story is kind of complex I need to find a way for the player to sort of see the adventure from a different point of view to understand it better. So what if after the first module or so the player takes control of a totally different character - that plays an essential part later in the story as an NPC - and takes him through the next module. The 'NPC' has his own agenda and when controlling him you'll have to work towards the new goals for that module. Then you return to controlling your own character.
Maybe this could be done with multiple NPCs thus creating a variety of simultaneous, even interconnected stories.

So what do you think? Complicated? I think there will be no problem doing this from a technical aspect but do you mind having to play as a totally different character? You think playing as predefined characters takes some of the fun out of the game?

Hmmm, I like the idea. But something bothers me about it. If the player is controling another charater it might be ok if you were to wage a war for say. I dont think it would fly though. Their would have to be a conetion some how.

Maybe if went like this. Main charater stumbles apon plot to kill the king. He tells the high guard who is part of the plot to kill the king. So the main charater has to find another person who can get in to the castle to warn the king. Main charater finds a commoner who happens to be a jester. He offers to sneek the main charater into the castle to see the king because with out a king lets face it he would be with out a job. So from their the jester is controled and the main charater follows behind intell you come to the king.

Wow, thats good. I think I'm going to use that. Any ways do you see where I'm getting at? The main charater has to have some kind of interaction.

Actually I wasn't thinking of it that way. I'm going to have the main character find an enchanted amulet during the first module in Cormyr. The amulet sort of mentally connects the character with the NPC I'm planning to use.

The new module begins and the player controls the new NPC in Thay. This module is rather short -so that you don't feel totally out of place- but gives the main character some clues that lead him further on with the main story.

During the course of the adventure you get more chances to 'see'/'live' what's happening to the other NPC. Both the characters are aware of the new 'connection' but since they get to 'help' each other they
don't particularly mind. So when they finally meet in Thay -after quite a long time- you could have some pretty interesting things happening.

I haven't worked out all the details yet but that's what I'd like to do in my campaign more or less. Well, one of things I'd like to do anyway.

That sounds much better then. It seems to me as though you are on to something. I'll like to see what you come up with.
