    The question is wrong! You're not very good at this are you???

    Third Question
    Subject: *Very very Tricky maths!
    Note: This riddle must be done IN YOUR HEAD ONLY and NOT using paper and a pen. Try it.

    Take 1000 and add 40 to it.
    Now add another 1000.
    Now add 30.
    Another 1000.
    Now add 20.
    Now add another 1000.
    Now add 10.

    What is the total? (scroll down for answer)

    Did you get 5000?
    The correct answer is actually 4100.
    Don' t believe it? Check with your calculator!
    The decimal sequence confuses our brain, that always jumps to the highest decimals (100s instead of 10s).

    That should have you in a bad mood for the rest of the day!!! :lol:

    Were you the weakest link? I know I was!

    [IMG] I am just curious, Viking.

    Why did you leave out the one with the names?
    Anyway the test is funny. It lets people know if they gotta get their ability to concentrate straightened out. :thumbs up:

    D'oh! I missed the second one, wasn't thinking straight.

    How about this riddle:

    An egg seller goes to market. His first buyer buys half of his eggs plus half an egg more. His second buyer requests likewise (not the same number, but the same fraction) as do the rest of his customers. That day, he did not break a single egg, and he sold all his eggs. How many did he sell?

    there's something weird.. looking at #2 (i got that wrong btw :)) for #1 you can say you finished first, cause if you finished second he wouldn't have been the 2nd.
    If you specificly told in #2 that the guy /finished/ last, it would make sense methinks. You can't really tell from the way the questions are posed.

    Eh.. i'm missing something i guess

    Sapiryl, 3
    Edit; Hmm no can't be three since he must at least have four customers if I follow your riddle correct. So 15 eggs.

    Edit to invoker; eh? Sorry can't decipher what you mean up there. :(

    lol wouldn't it depend on the number of customers?

    2 customers -> 3 eggs
    3 -> 7
    4 -> 15
    5 -> 31

    etc..

    feel free to point my mistake or bash :)

    Actually, that's correct.

    Most people pick out one or two possible answers but ignore the fact that there could be more.

    Kinda silly really, but I was just wondering.

    Actually, the second question isn't wrong, he could be any position, apart from last, as he could merely be lapping the person. :)

    I was right in saying you come first on number 1) It says nowhere that you didn't just proceed to overtake the first runner aswell.
    For number 2) i go with Wildfire.
    And for number 3) well if you get that wrong i would seriously consider dropping kindergarten maths.

    With #1, you can be in every position. The one you called 'second' may have lapped you and a while later you overtake him, which would probably be allowed if a safety car came on the track, or if the one is second place makes a mistake or something like that and you can overtake him. So it is impossible to know in which position you are, you could actually be 1st or last.

    [IMG] I did only get the second question right! There is a name for that, if you learn from your mistakes on the first question. There is a word for it!

    I was amazed by the last one :)

    only failed at the second question.

    The same happens qith this example:

    You : What colour is a refrigerator?
    Other: WHITE
    continue immedialty with the same question"
    You : What colour is a refrigerator?
    Other: WHITE
    Ask this 5 times (in 10 seconds)

    Then ask immedialty: What does a cow drink?

    The other will always immediatly reply with "MILK!".. wich is very wrong :)

    Interesting test. I got the first two right but the moth one I did and got 5000. I went back and did it again after I saw the answer and still got 5000. :) I check with the calculator and then saw what I did. A very interesting example about the factors of ten and the brain switching them around.

    What do cows make? MILK
    What do cows drink? MILK
