Ok, so I am new to the whole concept of AD&D and I am looking for some help. I do not even know where to begin. :(

I was looking in the AD&D website and I do not understand all the different classes, I thought that there was:

    1. Warriors (Fighter, Paladin, Ranger)
    2. Wizards (Mages)
    3. Priests (Cleric, Druid)
    4. Rogues (Thief, Bard)

However, I see stuff like favored soul, ninja, shugenjas, and I do not know what they are  .

I also do not understand the difference between arcane and divine.
    Any help is welcome. :)

Well, yes, in real D&D there are / were only 4 classes:

    Fighter
    Magic-User
    Cleric
    Thief

Then people decided that that was not complicated enough so they invented a million new rules, including a whole load of new classes that were really just minor tweaks of the four real classes.

As for the difference between Arcane and Divine:
    - Arcane is the magic that the Magic-User (or Wizard or Sorcerer or Bard) uses. The Magic User has to somehow learn Arcane spells
    - Divine is the magic that a Cleric (or Druid) uses. Divine magic is granted, well, divinely from the Cleric's god or goddess through prayer.

There are some spells that are both Arcane and Divine and others that are only one or the other.

    @Hardourboy:
Thank you, for the answer... :)

Do you know if those additional classes are link to the original four or the all are full class on there own. I mean for example, the Ninja description said that is a type of thief "rogue"!!??

most of the other classes are just sub-classes of the main four, though many combine aspects of two or three. For example, a paladin is a fighter that has some cleric like abilities and spells granted by his/her god for her/his innate goodness, a bard is a mix of fighter/mage/thief with some singing/performing to boot.

Just curious, how are you getting into AD&D? Through computer fantasy role playing games, like Baldur's Gate, or maybe Dragonshard? Or through a real live people role playing group? Your answer will better let us here help you.

Tal gave good advice. Dan Simpsons FAQ is often easier to understand than the books anyway....

I also seem to recall that he wrote a 3rd ed. D&D FAQ, but I can find it on www.gamefaqs.com . But I'm 95% positive that he did.

Meh, to read D. Simpsons D&D F.A.Q., obviously :p But not as if you didn't know that, you :geezer: you.

You must read inbetween the lines to catch the deeper meaning, my brother :hippy:
