Any ideas how to make this? Has to be as good as fried fluffer nutter sandwhiches (which I had last night )

LONDON (Reuters) - Chocoholics seeking to indulge their passion this Easter will appreciate a British hotel chain's diet-busting chocolate sandwich, which boasts the added attraction of being dipped in batter and deep-fried.
Ramada Jarvis introduced the delicacy last month and said on Wednesday the calorie-heavy dish had become the fastest selling dessert on its menu.

"We were surprised it has become so popular, although it is very tasty," said the chain's director of food and beverages Debbie Walter.

The sandwich is particularly popular in Scotland, traditional birthplace of the mother of all deep-fried desserts, the battered Mars bar.

Mindful that Britain, along with other Western countries, faces an increasing problem of obesity the hotel chain also offers less fattening desserts.

"The chocolate sandwich is not something if you are on a serious calorie-controlled diet, but we do offer alternatives," said Walter.

Ramada Jarvis has 65 hotels in Britain, but only 36 currently offer the waist-expanding dessert. _end_

 

I've seen this before, and the question remains unanswered: what does the "sandwich" consist of? Layers of cake filled with ganache? Nougat between bars of regular chocolate? Cookies around fudge? Enquiring minds want to know!

 

If it's deep-fried, it's probably not a "sandwich" in the classic sense. Most things that are batter-dipped and deep-fried have a crusty coating on the outside. I'd imagine this outside substance would be something like the deep-fried funnel cakes you see at picnics, festivals, carnivals, etc in the summer months.

 

I think this is simply a couple of slices of bread with chocolate sauce inbetween. Deep-fried then served with ice cream (although vanilla and not Irn Bru).

I know a place that at lead did (and probably still does) deep fried chocolate pizza, although I had always stuck to the Mars Bar or Topic.

 

Chocoholic that I am, that doesn't sound all that good. I was picturing a couple of brownies with a slice of fudge in between, battered, fried, and topped with hot fudge sauce. Best served with 2-3 scoops of chocolate ice cream.

Now that sounds heavenly! Anybody know what sort of batter to use to make something like that?

 

A pancake batter or waffle batter should do nicely, BigStick.

 

Yeah, that should work. Perhaps some cocoa can be mixed in with the batter to keep the whole chocolate, chocolate, and more chocolate theme going.

 

I think that this dessert would be awesome to try, but it's not the best description in the world. And a picture would be nice too. It would help me make up my mind to eat it or not. I mean, when I really think about it, I don't think that I want an actual chocolate sandwich. But, I'll try anything once, I guess.

 

The tradional batter for something like that would be the same as you'd use for a fish supper.
