I know, I know. It's a "cheap" way of doing things. But when you're thinking of being a solo F/T, what choice is there? Read on...

I've been able to do it before, but didn't write down (or simply lost) the settings to put into the Global tab (or was it Effects? I forget.) for my character to protect him from:

    Maze
    Imprisonment
    Charm
    Dire Charm

There might have been something else too, something that infuriated me to all buggery 'cause I either "died" from a temp spell effect (ie, Maze) or had to wait for several minutes while my character became Charmed and re-Charmed with no party members to attack. (I'm permanently solo, you see.)

I'm not looking for immunity to Finger of Death or the like; I don't mind dying from legit effects such as a Disintegrate spell or getting Feebleminded, just annoying fiddly crap like the ones mentioned above that "kill" me illogically, or waste a LOT of my time waiting for the effect to wear off. I'd like to avoid the frustration.

Can anyone help with this please? :) Google hasn't come up with what I'm after, and I like the resources I've found here before, thus my joining the forum now. :) Thanks in advance!

try giving your char berserker's or barbarian's rage, it protects you against about everything. though somehow you can still be stunned... don't know why

I think it is doable with SK, though it would be hard, considering there's no reference guide as to what different state flags, parameters, etc shoud be set to for things to work proper.

My suggestion is that you do either of these two things:

    1) Download DLTCEP, which has an effect reference guide implemented, and as an "external" document.

    OR

    2) download Creature Maker, which doesn't have an effect reference guide, but does have a description for what the different effects will do.

Either ones can be found here:
    http://www.clandlan.net/index.php?page=modding/bgiwd/tbgmirror

What you should do is to open either Creature Maker, select "File->open" and change the filetype to chr, open your saved character from the characters folder (you will have to save your char first) and add the effects you want.
Or open DLTCEP, select "edit->Creature->File->Load external creature->select your characters folder->change filetype to chr->select your saved character"; now go to the effects screen and add the wanted effects.

There might be some easy way to alter these things using SK, but I know of none.

    Hope this has helped you.

gingercat, i don't know if this is possible but you should be able to give your character the innate ability rage. if minsc can do it, you should be able to as well :D

Yes, go with DLTCEP. At the very least you can create or modify a magic item which can give you the immunities you seek. Very easy to do.

    @ Khemsa

Why not just modify your .chr file instead? its basically the same as adding effects to an item, but the effects are just added to you instead :p .

Ah, that's what the other effect was: Immunity to Level Drain! And I was able to put those 4 effects mentioned in the first post (+ LD immunity) via SK directly by adding stuff in the Effects tab. Been years since I did that though, so the necessary parameters are lost in the depths of time and forum prunings...

'Course, since SK has no "Add" button on this tab, I had to "copy" an effect from elsewhere then "paste" it into the Effects tab and change things as directed, then duplicate it and modify that for each additional effect... Which I may still be able to do with the tools you guys have mentioned. I'll also post the results for future reference :)

    Thanks!

Got it. Dunno what it means by "Can't load MORALEAI.ids!" but I doubt that'll affect what I want to do anyway. :)

Information on effects (and everything else about the IE, really) is in the IESDP. http://iesdp.gibberlings3.net/ for the main page, and for BG2 effects try http://iesdp.gibberlings3.net/opcodes/bg2tob.htm

It's what modders have been using for years, and is currently maintained by Igi. :)

You can carry items picked up in SoA to deal with this.

Shield of Harmony. Imunity to charm, confusion, domination, hold person. Get in Trademeet.

Mace of Disruption +2. Improved by Cromwell, you need the +1 version and illithium to upgrade. Wielding this avoids level drain.

Olimikrig has done an items pack for 'Boards o Magic' that includes an item (a ring) that gives constant protection from the spell school that includes 'maze' and 'imprisonment' (I think it is spell school abjuration).
