Can someone explain to me how to import a character from BG?

The manual is not helpful, and when I'm in the game BG2 trying to do it, it says "click on import" or some such thing, but then there's nothing to click.

    it's rather simply really.
You export your BG1 character, copy the character file to the BG2 character folder. Then in BG2 you import a character, like you normally do
