Everyone seems to know about the Roll-Point Buy switcheroo. You roll high attributes, then flip to the Point Buy screen and drag those numbers invisibly to the boxes so they can be increased yet again with your 30-point pool. Rinse and repeat, and you can get 18s in everything you need.

But last week my friend and I found a weird bug, or "unintended feature". When you do the Roll-Point Buy switcheroo, instead of dragging the invisble numbers to the boxes, double-click on them. They change! Usually they change to something mundane - a 10 will change to a 13, a 15 will shrink to a 12, etc. But sometimes it comes up with outrageous values - I've seen numbers ranging from 2 to 43. 43! To pick up the number, you have to double-click and hold on the second click, else the number reverts back to its invisible, original self.

I haven't figured out what the pattern is; it never works twice on one roll (there'll be one ridiculous number and the other five will be ordinary); and it doesn't work with every roll. But I've gotten it to work on three separate occasions - and now I have my 43-Charisma bard and 36-Strength fighter wreaking havoc.

Has anyone else tried this? I have the latest patches (official and Co8).

I could never get that to work. I tried a number of different times, but never figured out how to do it. And I generally don't go above 32 on intelligence. There's a point, later on, where you can't level up because you have too many skill points.

I'm not sure why it works. I'd never noticed it before. I had a friend playing it, and he was doing the typical non-CRPG-player stuff, like clicking where "of course" he wasn't supposed to. But I know it does work, because I've repeated the process several times.

But thanks for the bit on Intelligence. I didn't even consider that.
