Yeah i know what the spell is, its just, is there any practical use for it when playin the game? Okay so your characters go red in the affected character's field of vision but is there any other significance to the spell? And does anyone ever bother to memorize it? As for me, when i get the scroll, i sell it knowing that there are better spells (in my opinion) to be memorized!

I've always wondered what the point is myself. It never really gets dark enough so that the player can't see NPCs without having someone with infravision in the party, and those circles are such a giveaway anyway. Perhaps it gives bonuses to hit in darkness, or bonuses to spotting thieves hiding in shadows?

Also, the spell's largely redundant seeing as how elves, half-elves, dwarves and gnomes get it as a racial bonus (I could be wrong with this - I never paid much notice to it myself)

In Normal AD&D rules creatures without infravision suffer from -1 to -4 in THAC0 depending on how dark it is. The DM is the judge of this.

How this works in the BIOWARE/INTERPLAY constellation I have no idea.

[IMG] As far as I know, the only difference with infravision in BG is that the characters are outlined in red. And that's it. It doesn't effect anything else. It might only be useful if you had a party of all humans... But since you can find rings of infravision in the game, I'd say it's totally pointless.

With infravision you should be able to see invisible creatures .

Why would that make sense? If they're invisible in the visual spectrum, why couldn't they be invisible in the infrared and ultraviolet spectrums?
