Installing the patch messes up my game

    When I install the 1.06 patch, it messes up my game. After installing the patch, the game will not accept the HoW disc when loading up, and even then it messes up the game anyway; the picture is enlarged, and the main screen is screwed up. I thought it could be that my copy of the match was faulty, but I downloaded it again from here, tried that, and still got my game messed up. What could be causing this problem? Before the patch, the game plays fine and is no problem.

    It's obvious why.
    Patch v1.06 isn't made for HoW.
    You need v1.41 or even better TotL which includes 1.42.

    kmonster, what is 1.06 for and where did it come from? This is the first I have seen it mentioned

    Taluntain, I looked and found that we had the file on hand but was wanting to find out a little about it. I have ver 1.42 installed. I have HoF and TotL also and was wanting to figure out if it was worth any changes, was the 1.06 patch worth it, what did it do?

    BTW, tried to sign on the 4th and 5th and dang near died when the site was gone! Don't do that to an old man. Saw a lot of new stuff looking around. Good job.

    [​IMG] Ah... the 1.06 patch is simply the patch you apply if you only have the original game and no expansion. It's the final patch for the original IWD only.

    If you have HoW, all the fixes from the 1.06 are applied along with the HoW install, so you don't need it.

    So, basically, you just install IWD, HoW and ToTL and you've got everything and are fully patched. It's possible that you need to install the HoW patch before installing ToTL, but I don't think that that is the case. In any case, it doesn't hurt doing it. But installing the patch for the original game only once having the expansion installed definitely does break things in all IE games.

    Oh, and no worries, you can't keep SP down for long. ;) There's a lot of good stuff coming soon.
