I just had something interesting happen... I just came from the Coronet, after getting Jaehira healed up from the curse, and was going to the Promonade... and I was attacked by these vampires, after having this Thief, ask for help.

Apparently some time in the fight, Yoshimo dies, and I didnt notice it. Usually when a chara dies, their pic grays out, but this time the pic itself is gone... Im pretty sure hes dead since his body is on the ground, and its not a guard, or the thief, or one of the vampires, since they turn into gases and drift off.

No big deal really since I was gonna drop him off at the tavern anyway...

Poor Yoshi was most likely permanently slain. Remember Jaheiras monologue about 'sometimes they cannot be revived' in Irenicus' dungeon? Well, they can die permanently, and when it happens, their picture is removed.

Seems rather dumb to have a ressurection spell but not be able to use it because of that...

    *shrugs*

normally your characters don't die permanently, but it happens. I cannot remember, but Vampires might also have some sort of attack that permanently kills.
Otherwise, if one of your chars is hit by a disintegrate spell, and fails his/her save, then they'll also die permanently. Same applies for frozen chars/mobs that is hit.

Getting chunked, ie getting killed by a critical hit can also lead to that. There simply isn't enough of the body left in one piece to ressurect.

If you use CORE rules, and then one of your characters is reduced to -10 HP or less by some massive damage, (say it had 1HP and then a thief backstabbed for massive 48HP OUCH!) they die permenently, their bodies are horribly damaged. IE:Blasted into chunks of fresh meat(psychial damage), toasted blackly(fire or electricity) or frozen solid(cold) which shatters quickly. You can try these on goblins and such as they have few HP and are prone to explosive deaths. Some spells like the feared disintegrate also permenently kills. A wish in pen&paper MIGHT bring the victim back, but not so in BG2. :(

Vampires are unlikely to kill someone by massive damage, but if they drain TOO much levels, SOMETIMES the victim is drained OUT OF existense and dissapears into a mist, I have witnessed this when ShadowDragon breathed on Minsc and drained 10+levels, he was gone in a black cloud! According to pure AD&D any victim dies of level draining comes back as the very same undead (VAMPIRE YOSHIMO!!!) but o'course it is not implemented. Though Yoshimo is gone for good. Load if you want him back.

How do you re-add a chara? Can you do the same thing as with Boo?

That makes the game more interesting. Plus you said you were going to dump Yoshi anyway. ;)

Once Jahiera got level drained and she was
    Fighter Lvl 1
    Druid Lvl 0

Anyways back to topic. Yoshimo got permenitly killed. Characters can get permenitly killed OR permenitly gone by-

Massive Damage- Example: I had 4HP then a Enemy did 36 Damage to me. I explode and wiped from excistence etc.

Spells- Example: Disintegrate and fail save, Flesh to Stoned THEN hit, Inprisionment (i think you can get permenitly killed by it) etc.

Level Drained- Example: You're level 10 and a vampire drains 10 levels from you. You are drained out of excistence.

Remove Teammate- Example: I reject Nalia's quest, she'll leave forever (last I checked I couldn't find her anywhere)

I think there is more ways but I can't remember.

Oh and it shouldn't matter since you were going to ditch Yoshimo anyways and plus....I better not say anymore then that cause I'm gonna end up giving spoilers

Since noone else seems to be both willing and able to answer your question, I guess I'll have to.
Yes. The CLUA code is the first five letters of their name, followed by a level number. The choices for Yoshimo are: 7, 8, 10, 11, & 12.

I'd go with Yoshi7 and CLUA his experience up; you get more control and max HP that way.
