SoA/ToB has the usual D&D stereotypes as mega-badguys.. dragons, liches, flayers, beholders... hell, even Drizzt himself for those who are truly evil. So..

What kind of interesting high-powered opponents would you like to see?

Personally I'd like a big ole barbarian to rumble with. Powerful rage, immune to the thief's cheese backstab, and a boatload of hit points. A dwarven or half-orcish barb would do nicely.

Or a high-powered gnomish illusionist-thief, that would certainly be a challenge. Give him a cloak of non-detection and he can certainly backstab backstab backstab..

Well I've just beaten Sendai and I must say that she makes for the most fun and balanced battle so far in the game!!

First, you get A LOT of opponents. All those Drow coming from rear are going to get you into big troubles if you left your spellcasters there with little protection (in fact, Nalia nearly died before managing to get rid of the first wave). Then we have the main bastard: that is seven main bastards, all different from each other for skills and strong/weak points. They would still make for easy fights, except that half of your party is busy keeping the Drow at bay!!

And finally, the true Sendai. *whoah!* She protects and cures herself very intelligently , plus her teleport makes hitting her a pain unless you have good archers. The daughter-of-a-[...] even managed to successfully cast Pain (or Harm? I mean the spell which reduces to 1 HP) on my main character, which scared the hell out of me!! Great satisfaction in killing her, I had to use nearly all of my best spells!!

So, if I found another battle similar to this, I'd really love it. I'm quite bored by single strong opponents or hordes of tough but without immunities monster, which can be easily whacked respectively by Dispel+fighting or a few Abi Dalzim's.

i'd like to see some High-Level Party fights.

I had liked to see a nice mass combat with a horde of dwarven or half-orc barbarians, including shamans of course. A little bit like the horde you have to fight in last level of WK, only attacking better coordinated ...

I hope for more stuff like that in IWD-2

A kensai/mage. Possibly armed with a Celestial Fury's lost twin sister and a duplicate Crom in his off hand. I would take great pleasure in killing him - possibly by a backstab.

Actually, there IS a cloneparty in BG2. Although they aren't really tough.

come to think of it, two clone party's actually.

    1) Facing Irenicus in Spellhold
    2) Between Areas.

A true mirror image of your party would be quite cool. Late on that would be one hell of a scrap. If ambushed I think if the AI is decent, you shouldn't stand a chance. Second time would be a different matter though.

No warning, first you know is when a web / grease / horror / stinking cloud hits the party, closely followed by a greater malisson, fireball + abi dalzims combo. Rock on! Hope you're all on auto-pause when enemy sighted....

Well, using those lovely Mind Flayers Collars this would be a nice way to get a second [your favourite NPC] in your party, with the same items as the first ;)

They don't last forever when I've used them, only ever till they've [the mind flayers] blasted the doors open.

    A monster that's missing???
    Hmmm tough one...
But my bet would be the Behemoth and the good old allmighty Ghost Dragon (immune to weapons of +7 or lower, immune to magic... can only be killed using a Sword of Dragonslaying (roll a 20 to kill any form of Dragon in one blow.) or Staff of the Apparition (roll a 20 to kill any form of undead, shadow, spirit, etc. in one blow.))

i found yaga-shura an interesting fight, but i think a horde fight against heaps (and i mean HEAPS) of low level barbarians, ala the scots, shamans and witch doctors included, with a semi-powerful leader, ala william wallace. i'd like to see his on screen image - a real tall human with a massive 2-hander. niiiice...

Yaga-shura was a though guy. This was The Battle! Then i didn't know that killing him will stop this army comming around me and I killed around 50-100 soldiers before understanding.

Yaga Shura a problem??? You make me laugh, I would say that the far most dangerous and hardest to kill opponent is Draconis.

Well, I can imagine if you start with taking out his soldiers, the battle can get pretty heated. :D But once you realize you only have to hit YagaShura, the battle usually is a walk in the park really.

I think a fight with another god would be nice, for example player char vs cyric who wants to prevent the player char to ascent to godhood. Speaking about a challenging fight!

I think after you kill Amy (mellisan) the solar gives you one final quest, the ultimate battle. All the dragons, Mellisan, slayer shadows, Bhodi, Irenicus, Sarevok if your good or if your evil you caould have dragons, amy, jon, bhodi, elliseme. both could have various other monsters and party replicas, sure you would probably get killed but it would be cool!
