Sorry if this has been covered before. Any tips on how to beat the iron golems beneath the monastery? I really want to get Ven.

Pretty decent level required to beat 4 of them up at the same time!

I'd suggest nicking the stuff then running off. (At least that's what I did).

A good tactic would be anyone with either invisibility spell or potion, or sanctuary perhaps. Unlock the chest (I think it was locked), then loot with the rest of the party waiting by the exit.

Good luck to you if you feel the golems must die, but they are hard with 4 pounding you!

I found the reward for beating the golems rather meager. Of course, it's a highly religious item for the monks so it makes sense they guard it with the best they've got...

[IMG] The only real reason to kill the golems is the incredible experience points you get.

    Suggestion:
You probably don't have +3 weapons at this time, so don't loot the stuff yet. Go to the next section, complete some quests, and maybe get a level. Get some +3 or +4 weapons for EVERYONE, except maybe your spellcaster since they obviously don't fight much. Don't waste time with anything that does piercing damage (bolts, arrows, spears, daggers) because Golems laugh it off. Magic is useless, period. Get your tanks in there with at least +3 weapons, cast acid protection on them, focus on one golem at a time, and upon killing one, take refuge in the Drow caves or the monastery. Stay near an exit while you kill them so you can flee quickly. Take em down one by one. Depending on your party level, you could get something like 2600 experience for killing each one. I got 2600 with a 6 person party that was around their 10th or 11th level.

That's how I did it, though if you've got the weapons you can try it now. One other suggestion, sweep the area before attempting to take out the golems. Be on the look out for... suprises.

I honestly never got a lot of challenge from them, because i play a 1p party from the start. So by time i got to the monastary, i was wicked strong. I went back and got the Light of Cera Sumat, which made them all the much easier.. Because my main char is a Pal20/Ftr10. So that sword helps out, Specially the HoF version.. Either way, going back to the Gy in Kuldahar is Worth While, (Xp) And if you have a Paladin (The Sword Rocks!)

    Waitaminute, Golems are constructs, right?

Therefore they can be killed by a single hit from the Kegsplitter of Sheangarne Ford (HoF version of the axe. Slays Kegs AND constructs :D

[IMG] Thanks for all your advice. Actually, I've just beaten the golems and quite easily at that. I summoned all the elementals and undead I could and shot the golems with arrows of piercing and sure striking bullets while the golems were occupied. I didn't even get scratched. The problem is I can't talk to Ven. When I place the cursor on him, it shows the sword icon.

Does he have a red circle around him? If so, he's hostile, and then you can't talk to him.

BTW, I never met Ven there. I always tell monks that they have a spy.

Yes, he's hostile. But I thought that I would be able to get Nonnin's ring after finding him. Oh well.
