Kensai is fine without having to dual to a mage and you'll be fine. There are pleny of NPC mages for you not to worry about dualing.

You need 17 or better INT for your mage and you must have 15 or better in all your required Kensai stats.

Like I said, you're fine without being a mage anyhow :)

What I don't understand is why a Kensai? Fighters are better to dual to a mage, then at least you can wear some sort of armor.

I'm just starting a kensai right now (lvl 8)with the intention of dualling to a mage. I don't think that dualling from a straight fighter is a better choice Sylvus. I find it a pain when you feel like bashing something and have to put on the armour your carrying in your pack, when your done then time to strip again. If you look at a dedicated mage they can't wear armour, and they also can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag without some incantation, a kensai has the best fighting abilities plus an AC bonus. If you want to be mage the question should be - Why not start as a kensai? (Except for the fact that you lose a few XP without the cap remover) There are quite a few non-armour items and spells that can boost your AC nicely (High DEX is a must). The thing I really miss with a kensai is the lack of a ranged attack.

I guess it's just a matter of personal choice and playing style.

Sounds more like a tank mage, power-gamer class to me :)

Some people just don't like fighter mages ;) Well, for everyone reading who hasn't created one, try it. I really like it. I've played a multi fighter/mage and my current main a Kensai D Mage. I have to say I really like the Kensai. The fighter is good as well, but I gotta say I like the Kensai's advantages. I will not defend my class of choice at this juncture; I will only say the I personally feel it is a better choice and that I have experienced absoloutly no problem with him as a front line fighter.
