[IMG] I have BG2:SOA with TOB, and completed it, and wondering whether or not to play the origional BG and TOSC.

Is it worth it since i have played the later editions? and could i play as a monk in it, and if not could i import a character from BG2 into BG1?

    Please help

Yes, it's worth the money, because BG is a great game, but you cannot play monk (it's an 3rd edition class), and I think that you cannot import your characters into BGI, becasuse there are to many differences betwwen the two character system.

No, of course not. You cannot import anything from BG2 into BG1. The extra classes like sorcerer, monk and barbarian don't exist in BG1. The higher levels aren't supported either. But BG1 is still a great game, in fact, it is the game that spurred me to create Sorcerer's Place and later on everything that you see around you here. I think that's reason enough to get it. ;)

Yeah, it got me so involved with roleplaying games that I don't play any other kind anymore! Get it! Got it? Good :).

My friends and I started playing D&D as a result of this game. I can hardly play anything but RPGs now, this game is indeed great. Plus many things that were in BG2 that may not have made sense you might recognise.

Good news, i just bought it , and it is fantastic, 1 thing i can say is there are hell alot more NPCs, which gives more freedom in your party.

I am a Fighter/mage/thief, which my opinion is the best all round class, and i think i got a pretty good party aswell.

    Theres me- Fighter/mage/thief
    Coran- fighter/thief
    Jaheira- fighter/druid
    Khalid- Fighter
    Xan- enchanter
    quayle- cleric/illusionist.

i think this goes well with my character which gives me a total of:-
    4 fighters
    2 thieves
    2 healers
    3 mages

What do you guys think, and do you have any good parties that would go well with a F/M/T.

Also i think bows are the best weapon at the beginning of the game, since my character levels up very slowly, and some reason i find ranged weapons hit twice more often than melee weapons do, even though the THACO are similar.

I just ordered it as well (from SP ... so look for your perks Tal! ;) )

I'm trying to choose between the F/M/T and a (brace yourselves) Paladin.

So please allow me to listen in to the advice you are giving to Deathmaster.

    [Thanks! ;)] -Tal

[IMG] Untill I saw BG1, I actually thought CRGPS were boring and I only played action and racing games. BG1 inspired strategy and adventure into me as well.

I've played BG for more than three years now and still go back and play it.

One of my favourite party's is:

    Myself (Paladin or Dualed Thief/Mage)
    Minsc (With Gauntlets of Dexterity)
Khalid (With Gauntlets of Ogre Power)
Jaheira (Scimitars from Dritz or Durlags Twr)
    Imoen
    Dynaheir

This is a good party, for story continuity, when you export your character into BG2.
Also, a Paladin has more kick ass stuff in BG2 than BG1.

    Have also solo'd as a Fighter/Mage/Thief.

I played BG2 first too. But, i like BG1 a heck of a lot more than i ever did BG2. More of a tolkien feel to it you could say.

Yeah, BG1 felt so "real" with all of the wilderness. It was a lot easier to roleplay in the first game IMO. The areas you can go to in BG2 seem so limited, it's like playing an Arcade game. In BG1 you could just go out adventuring, and have a lot of fun. Heck, you don't even have to worry about the plot. In almost every chapter you have acess to most of the areas in the game.
