About the attributes for a sorcerer.
I think i chose something like this:
    Str 10
    Dex 19
    Con 16
    Int 10, 18?
    Wis 18
    Cha 10

So do i need a intelligent of 18? or should I spend these points on Str or Cha?

A sorcerer in 2e rules needs intelligence othewise he or she will not be able to cast higher level spells. A sorcerer does not have much need for strength so I'd sacrifice that. Also, Wisdom is not a high priority for a sorcerer either.

Int is not really important for a sorcerer, but as Cha and Str are even less important, and Int adds a tiny scrap of lore (improved later with Potions of Mind Focusing), I'd go for high Int.

INT will do absolutey nothing other than raising lore. STR isn't so useful, other than raising your carrying capacity (which, if you're soloing, is a pretty good thing). While many will argue that you don't need CHA because of the Ring of Human Influence, I'd much rather sacrifice INT and place the points in CHA and save a precious ring slot. So I'd pick either STR or CHA, even though neither is essential.

In BG II a Sorcerer does not need to bother about his stats.
For Lore, try and keep both Int and Wis around -+2 of each other. Int = 12 minimum.
Like what Ziad said, maybe you should put points in Char.

I thought sorcerers need Charisma and not Intelligence (at least that's how things are in 3.5ed. D&D). Maybe it's Intelligence in @nd edition...Whatever!!

Sorcerers in BGII don't need Charisma as much as they do in Icewind Dale II

IMHO, intelligence is a must for any class, solely because it adds lore. Lore makes it easier to identify things, therefore saving you money or spell space.

In BGII, a Sorcerer doesn't need ANY stats. You could lower them all to as low as they'll go, and still be very, very powerful.

My suggestions: High WIS (for the Wish and Limited Wish spells), High DEX (you'll be throwing daggers, darts, minute meteors, and using slings a lot), 16 CON (any HP bonus will help).

    Everything else is gravy.

Even with 18 int/wis your lore is nowhere around 60 IIRC. Sorcerers have a rather pity lore.

But if you're gonna use the lv9 wish spell, especially wish rest, you will need both int and wis at 18 (includes boost). Now this is really hard to roll. :shake:

Despite what the game tells you, INT has nothing to do with a Sorcerer's spellcasting (unlike a Mage who needs INT). Other than roleplaying reasons, the only reason to have high INT and WIS is if you plan to cast Wish or Limited Wish. If you are not interested in knowing either of these spells then you can tank INT and WIS. However, given the power of Wish, I always place an 18 in INT and WIS, but YMMV.

Hmm, it's strange with INT and Wish spell. After I've read Roman Grigoriev's FAQ, I've decided always to max INT and WIS.

But once I wanted to play with a very low roll, so I skipped INT. And I still got good options, refresh all spells\time stops, etc., every five times or so, which is about the average rate when I play with both INT=WIS=18.

Wish spell takes your Wis into account only, Int has no role to play with the wish spell.

    10-18-16-18-18-10 = 90 Should be do-able.

Does Int not also determine the time your character gets mazad for?

I played a thickish tank and kept getting wiped out when he was mazed. I'd hate to lose a good spell caster for part of a vital scrap with a Lich or some such.

Yes but if the main character gets mazed it is game over anyway.

The game is over if the main character is mazed AND it is a solo game. But in other circumstances, the party just waits 'till he is freed.

But I think being mazed is not an issue: Spell Immunity: Abjuration takes care of this little problem. It's a weak spell, anyway. ;)

The closest character to the wizard casting Maze is the one targetted, at least in my experience.

In other words, it shouldn't be a problem for a sorcerer at all, unless you screwed up.

@Kulyok - a *weak* spell? You do realise that there is NO save!
